Yeah, there's just too much going on. The hard edged texture is very distracting, and the colours are kinda extreme, especially given the subdued look of the scan. Also, avoid standard filters like the cloud filter when making backgrounds as they look pretty obvious. Try to keep the focus on the chara, as that's what anime walls are generally about.
