This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.

While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

I have a problem here with my collection of DVDs. Should I collect indivdual DVDs or whole box sets and if I buy a box set (which would have been cheaper) should I sell my indivdual DVDs? I just want peoples opinion for me to figure out.

If you don't feel like waiting to watch your anime, then yeah, buy the individual dvds. If you can watch the series without buying the dvd's, i guess you can wait for the boxed set. I think one should finish a collection started by individual dvd's rather than get the boxed set and sell the individual ones; still a waste of money in the end.

Buying individual dvds is cooler too, in my opinion, kinda shows you were an original fan from the start and actually bought the series piece by piece as they were released.

Fuuuuck, DVD-Collector's set is actually the best you can ever get for good series like Cowboy Bebop or Rurouni Kenshin. I wish I could buy the complete Rurouni Kenshin set one day... I've seen all Episodes per Download already, but that Anime is worth the money...

When I bought my Cowboy Bebop Boxed set in my local Comic Store in germany, I got a Manga Magazine and the Cowboy Bebop-OST for free...

It is better to go with the box set. If you buy the dvds one by one then your spending more money. And right now they are changing box-sets which is cool cuase there not as much. like Azumanga the thin pack dvd box-set is about 65$ which is a very good price for a 26 episode long anime. if you were to buy the dvds one buy one and each dvd cast about 20$ and there are about 6 vol. then your be spending about 120$!!! so if you want to save money it is WAY better to go with the box-sets. plus some box-set comes with funny extra omake like Full Metal Panic.

Usually, a DVD box set takes less room, so whenever I have the choice, I prefer box sets over individual dvds.
And of course, it's cheaper.

Personally, if I already have individual dvd, I don't buy the box set, because I'll have to sell them at a lower price and I'll lose money. But if the box is a lot better than the individual dvd you already have (beautiful package, soundtrack included, or whatever), it can be worth it. That's up to you...

The problem is knowing if a box set will ever be released. I bought "Happy Lesson" indiviually because I had no idea if there'd be a set. A year later when I found a set it was the thin pack version, which has a tendency to leave out the extra special features so the can stuff more episodes in. So I decided to keep the individual Happy Lesson DVDs. "Angelic Layer" I got individually becasue I wanted the special features which the thin-pack version didn't include. There are some anime today that I'm still wondering if they'll ever make into a set like "Hikaru no Go", or "Fighting Spirit". Those are long running series and would be expensive if they only released individuals.

On the other hand. Even I have a tendecy to buy entire set individually and then sell them off to pay for the cost of a complete collection. I did that with some of my "Banner of the Stars" DVDs. I only do this though if the collector's set comes with extras. If not then I keep my original, set or no set.

It all depends on what you want. If you just want the anime and can wait, then go get the collector's sets when/if they come out. If you want extras then check to make sure the collection set includes extras, otherwise you'd be better keeping the individuals. And if you can't wait then go ahead and buy the individuals and sell them off, if it can help you cover the cost of the box set.

Thanks. Yes it is hard to find Box Sets for some series since I don't know when they will come out and sometimes individual DVDs sometimes have more extras than the Box Sets especially thin Box Sets.

My opinion.. I tend to go more towards box sets. At first, some of them seem pricey.. but in the long run, it's cheaper then buying single DVDs. I usually go for sets because I'm impatient and like to watch things in order. The problem I have with single DVDs is that.. I can find some of them for decent prices.. (mostly used).. but I'll have a hard time finding a certain volume I need. Like, I bought X(tv) Volume One for like.. 10$.. but I had the hardest time trying to find Volume 2.. and when I did.. it was about 28$.. which, in my cheap little world.. way too much for one DVD.
Where I live.. the price range or DVDs are between 15.99$ to 30.99$.. Series usually run anywhere from 20$ to 130$ depending on the rarity, the size, and other stuff.
If you do (and highly recommend) start buying the boxes.. I think you should sell your single DVDs. I don't know where you live, but there are probably some stores that will buy/or credit them. Here, it's usually REcord and Tape Traders, Suncoast, GameStop, .. etc. Unless you're a collection freak and notice a difference between them and want to keep them because of that. (I know people who do that.)
It's all how you handle it though. Do you mind waiting for volumes? Are you strapped for cash?
The strong point with DVDs though is that you can get them way earlier before they can put out a complete box set. (which takes forever sometimes.) You can always buy older series in boxes..
I want to buy the FMA DVD's really bad.. but I'm holding off until later, because I have a feeling they'll do a box set with the series (and maybe the movie?) .. and it be way easier than having to pay 30$ a DVD.. because they never go on sale around here.

I like to have boxes for the series I buy, it just looks better that way. Since many Animes are released now in very low priced boxsets I think it is also a better alternative to the single discs. I don`t care much about Special Features since they are most of the time really bad, so it is no problem when these are missing.

So the bests places to sell individual DVDs are like Gamestop and Suncoast. If I wanted to sell my individual DVDs how much do you think I would get for them?

It depends on both the DVD and how much of the copy they have in stock. You can except about an average of $2-3 at least. Maybe $5-8 if its a poopular title. It also depends on the age of the title.
