This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.

While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

Are our lives controlled by Fate or by chance

Does anyone believe there is some divine world that controls the fate of our lives? Or do we control our lives and the paths we take merely by chance? In Australia a girl was almost burnt to death and yet when she was about to go home after months of recovery she was hit by a car? Is this fate? or is this pure bad luck? A lot of people say that this was the work of the fates and Karma if you like. Who knows? ANybody have thoughts about their own lives?

(Sophocle's "King Oedipus" is an excellent play if you're interested in this.)

Nno one can has control over life and death, but
what can do is to make the better ans best of it,
live ourlives honestly, and a life full of good deeds,

moreover if you talk about fate, yet life does have
something to do with, like if we meet someone by
chance, and they become apart of our daily life,
he would say that meeting you was a fate .

a chance is a word used for second time, like if i
was given one more chance may be i might have
done much better, chance is word said, it is not like
fate, another chance to live.

so it all depends on life, if you talk about luck, it has
50 percent effect on our daily lives, so either it is bad or
good its what we think, cause if it benefits us we say its
god luck, if it hurts us we say its bad luck, so its all humans
imagination, and thought.

If our lives are led by chance or led by the things we do in life then why do we go to church or temples. Do we seek guidance from the divine in order to lead better lives? I'm not quite sure? ? i've been reading a manga called "Priest" about angels being jealous that man is allowed to have free will. But do we actually have 'free will'?

I think...everything happens for a reason. It just seems to, at least for me, anyway. I mean, if it were all chance, wouldn't it quickly degenerate into chaos? Sort of like a gamble gone wrong, gone out of control...

Yeah i probably agree with you but if there was no chance then do really have 'free will' ? And isn't the world right now is in chaos becuase of the Nuclear thingy in Iran and Terrorism? Maybe they all are led by Gods will like how you said that not all things are led by chance. ..hmmm maybe your right!

Well, imo if you're just too lazy to live your life, make your decisions, and take your "chances", you start believing there's a "grand design" or something like that to avoid feeling guilty from not doing something, for letting an opportunity just pass you by, etc. etc. Still, to think that everything just is just "randomly supposed to happen" (weird... but think about that one) is quite the same. I think we should take full responsibility of everything we do, how it affects everyone else, and just deal. Don't try to blame fate or God, just acknowledge your part in this crazy world and try to make the best of it.

I'd say it's a mix of both. I'm a Buddhist, so the idea of karma really imprints on me. There's nothing much I can do to avoid the bad karma carried over from my previous life, but I can do more good deeds in this life to lessen the probability of bad things happening to me.

Sometimes I wish that my life is controlled by someone "up there", but then again, that'd be the selfish way out, the way out that means I don't want to take responsibility for my actions. So usually I live by the opposite, I CAN control what happens, to a small extent.

Ohayou mina,

I've just read a book that really relates to this topic alot and is a real good read too. Its called "the loop" written by a japanese man. Its the 3rd sequel to the widely known movie "The Ring" its a different perspective of the ring. I don't want to give to much away if you're gonna read but its about someone out there controlling us... and the 'video' (the one that kills everyone in seven days) of the ring is just a computer virus... this may be confusing at first but once you read the book it'll all come together. so the book is called "The loop" remember that name next time you go to the library or bookstore "the loop".

Why would OUR lives be controlled, this planet is more like a test. A test to see how we will act, on our own choses, our own thoughts, and our own fate. We control ourselves. So if you die the next day, you have died for a reason but it most of all must have been a chance.

Yes i agree with you that things happen by chance but don't think their something that kind guides this chance to make it happen. It the planet was a test then something must have been put their to make evolution of human beings. I mean how could the life of human beings start from a few molcules evolving to a composition like our selves. don't you think someone out there has put a formula or something like that to make this happen. Do you think that man kind is the only creature on this planet capable of hating its own kind becuase of chance? I think not. I think someone out there gave us free will and the potential to hate. I don't think this was by chance. but yeah your right there must have been a reason for us to die.

Our lives are only controlled by our actions and the ways we choose to follow.

No anyone will control our fate/life... Our fate is was controlled by us!

GOD will bless you if you are a good person, if you do something BAD---DEMON will take your life!

But if you do something good replace to something BAD that you do, GOD will BLESS you too! ^___^ This is call a CHANCE!

I only believe this! ^o^

I think that if you had the chance to be twice in front of the same situation : you'll not choose the same way and this is a proof of non influence because if this was wrong you'll always choose the same way and your life will be predestinated and whatever you'll choose you'll always end at the same place and this is not true.

Both
Simple, and yet most complicated.
