I was one of the lucky ones who got in, and I was wondering if anybody else got in. Also, I guess we can also talk about our impressions of the game for those who have got in.

I think the gameplay is fantastic. But I guess the graphics were kinda hyped. It's nice to have grass and dynamic lighting, but it's nowhere near the pics that I've seen online and in magazines.

im going to wait for a pc demo ...

I don't think that they'll have PC demo before the game comes out. There's enough hype going around the internet and gaming magazines that I think Infinity Ward is going to wait until a bit after the game releases to then release a demo.

Come to think about it, I was kinda surprised that the beta was exclusive to PC. Usually they do betas on PCs...

Call of Duty 1 was great. The series in general was my favorite World War 2 FPS series, no counting Day of Defeat. What made the games great was the frenzy combat, the epic scale of battles, and the historic battles you fought through.

Now it is modern warfare? I dunno, I just don't think I'm going to be able to get into Modern Battles as much as WW2 battles. I mean, Battlefield 2 was good, but that was because it was entirely multiplayer. I've always favored CoD's singleplayer. So, is single player now gonna be "Jets bomb the crap out of enemy, tanks go in for mop up, US takes minimal casualities"? I just don't see how they are gonna pull off modern combat the same way they did WW2 games.

You'd be surprised. I had the same fears, until I starting playing the beta. This isn't the realistic modern combat that we know, but modern combat call of duty style. They've done a fine job keeping the COD atmosphere and intensity, and I've been playing for hours on end. It's pretty addictive =P

COD4 can't really be compared to Battlefield 2. Battlefield 2 is a lot more slow-paced and bigger than C0D4. For one the map sizes are nowhere as big, and the maps are designed for fast paced action. It's still possible to go tactical, but it doesn't force you to do anything.

Heres the thing with me. I love Call of Duty and all the Call of Duty sequels based on WWII but I just can't wrap my head around the fact that it's modern; just don't work for me. But I will give it a test and keep my mind open for the possibility of it being great.

We all got in (at least everyone who signed up got in) which is nice. Finally a beta all my friends can participate in.

I am enjoying it so far, although now it feels like they're just making another Battlefield...and I am getting sick of WWII stuff...oh well, it'll hold me until Halo 3.

I kinda understand the comparisons of CoD4 to Battlefield, but having played Battlefield I can't say they're the same. They definitely are similar, but CoD4 feels a lot more action-packed and less annoyingly slow.

But maybe it's the small maps in the beta. I can imagine the multiplayer maps in the actual game being a bit bigger since they wanted 16 people playing at the same time.
