Final Fantasy IV DS

Currently it's midnight and I have no intention of going to sleep, so starting a new thread should reduce my boredom, hopefully. I know, I'm well aware there are probably countless of FF threads, but since this is a new game (sort of), it can be an exception! :)
Well, to kick things off, the English version of Final Fantasy 4 DS was released in America a few days ago, and I was wondering if anyone has played it? From the reviews and my four hours of playtime, it seems decent for a remake of an old-school role-playing game. I love the Final Fantasy series to bits and pieces, specifically 8. I remember back in the good-old days, when one of my relatives first introduced me to the FF universe, my first impressions of 8 were "what the hell is this? All you do is walk and talk!". Thank god I decided to borrow the game and confirm its brilliance. As I manage my way through the inevitable world, I started to notice the absolutely awesome soundtrack and story, which I had taken for granted. The game itself was so compelling I decided to branch off to the other titles in the series, and played 7 and parts of 10 -- which were indeed fun and intriguing, though the sequels on the other hand... was a bit disappointing to say the least.
Anyway, I haven't touched any of the earlier titles in the FF series until last year, when the remake of FF3 was on its way to the DS. It was alright, though the plot was pretty cliche, and there wasn't a lot of dialogue to keep you interested. So, back to where we started; the remake of FF4 is promising and seems to have a fair amount of potential thus far. There's also a few new features to help assist the old-school nature of the game, such as the upgrade to 3D and of course, voice-acting and dynamic camera-angles! Which leads to the questions... what are your thoughts on the game? Are you going to buy it? If not, then why?
Thanks. ;D

So...a few months ago, I decided, ya know, I should finally play the legendary FFIV which seems to be so well-liked by fans whose experience goes before seven, back to the snes days. I was like, hm, I should snag that GBA version or the PS compilation, whatever's cheaper and has the game.
And then I see that they were going to remake it FFi style, and I was like, hell yeah!
Now, I haven't bought yet, and honestly, the only reason why is because I'm backed up on games that I haven't finished. But I will definitely be buying this at some point.

I've played a small bit of the start. It's an incredible remake, almost everything is the same from when I played the PS version. There is also a slightly heightened difficulty level that I found compared to the PS version which was already a challenge. I like how they actually used both screens this time compared to the FF3. The voice acting isn't bad, but the newly 3D scenes are amazing.
Overall, this is a great remake for fans who've already played it and those who have always wanted to try it.

SiLVUR I can't agree with you more. Final Fantasy IV has always been at the top of my favorite Final Fantasy list and with this remake, I was a bit skeptical at first. But after playing it for the past few days it's been a journey revisited.
For starters, this looks nothing like the FFIV I've played in the past. Certainly, many things about the game are the same. But the aesthetic makeover completely blew me out of the water. I was expecting generic towns a la FF3 DS but I'm surprised at the amount of detail S-E put into "remodeling" the towns. In addition, Namingway (a magical rabbit!!) isn't useless anymore, and the game mechanics are a little bit different, especially with the strategies and controls for Rydia since she now can summon Pochiko (Whyt). Then there are the addition of minigames, a revised script, and additional scenes.
This is without a doubt the definitive edition.
