Final Fantasy VII
Is final fantasy 7 have the best storyline and why does it cost so much theses days share your thougts with the me and the rest so tell me...
Final Fantasy VII has a great storyline, but by no means the best. It's epic and certainly a good story, but again, not the best.
Seriously, the only reason it has such a high price is because of all the hype, fandom, and the stupid compilation. <_<

Hmm... I can't really say, since I only played half of FF7 until it decided to stuff up on me. =/
As for your other question, well, it's a simple case of demand and supply. The game isn't being produced anymore, and there are still a lot of people trying to get their hands on it, thus making it more expensive.

Final Fantasy VII was the first game I purchased for the PS1. I got it immediately when it hit Stateside. I found it to be refreshing with an engaging storyline that kept me hooked until the end. To this date, it is the only game to where I have put in over 90 hours into.
As for the price? Well, you can thank Advent Children for that. The reason it's so expensive now is due to the high demand caused by AC. It wasn't nearly this expensive before the CG hit was released, though after it came out prices pretty much doubled. Those who weren't fans now wanted to get their hands on the original to see how the events unfolded. At least that's my whole take on the situation as I watched it unfold.
The story itself has some very interesting points to it. On the whole it's very stereotypical. Save the world, blah blah blah. However, it's the elements to the story and the way those events unfold that make it memorable. To each his/her own, though. I know some who share the same love I do for it and others who loathe it.

Wait? Final Fantasy VII costs a lot now? I bought my copy for $20 and someone sold me their copy for $2.
Anyway, aside from that. Final Fantasy VII's popularity partially due to it's release. If you were there in 1997, which is considered by my younger generation and my peers to be the Golden Age of Gaming, it apparently, was revolutionary. It did things that never happened in RPGs before and changed the ways of gaming.
It's plot is good, and the storyline broad and the characters and their connections to eachother even broader. It's one of those games that when you start to get board with the bosses, leveling up, and story, it gives you a twist that gets you right back into it. That and everyone can relate to a character in the game in one way or another, with such a wide variety of characters and personalities how can you not.
Now, I suppose the blocky figures and dialogue makes it seem dated but I've had a good time playing it through the years. Is it the best? No, I'm not sure if you mean in comparison to other Final Fantasy games in which case I'm fond of VI, IV, and Vi, much more than VII.

Final Fantasy VII does have the best story line, Final Fantasy VI coming in a very close second. have two copies of the game (original and platinum edition). As for the price, I agree with Crimson Cyanide. Advent Children, Kingdom Hearts (which I have a long rant against), Dirge of Cerberus, etc. They went and ruined a good thing and they DON'T need to make a new version for the ps3. /moneygrab.
I love final fantasy 7 it's probably one of the most played in my game collection. Due mostly to the fact that I never really played it al the way through. I find it's pacing great get slightly bored of one thing and it whisks you off to another.
I think its high price is due to advent children and the games out recently dealing with ff7's world. But I also know that I have unforunatly scratched a copy of ff7 and had to get hold of another to make it a whole copy. I think I'm trying to say that's old and a lot a copies out will have been chucked or ruined. So supply is much less than demand.

I think it costs so much just because its overhyped, its out of print and its final fantasy vii after all. But its mainly because its overhyped and so many people are trying to rip you off. The game sold millions meaning there's millions of copies. There's no reason why it should cost so much. FFVII is not a rare game. It's not like Panzer Dragoon Saga where a few thousand copies where made. Sellers are trying to say its a collectors thing or some random reason to justify the high price.
As for being the best Final Fantasy, that's debatable. Right now it's probably my third or fourth favorite in the series. I enjoyed Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy VI more for some reason.

Almost anything out of print is going to cost a lot. To me the storyline is flawed, but I can in no way deny how revolutionary the game is. It's incredibly influential, even after all these years, and material is still being produced from that particular Final Fantasy universe. I wasn't aware it was fetching a high price, though, but it's a game tinged in nostalgia so many people who own it aren't going to want to sell it.
...As long as they don't start messing with Final Fantasy VI, I don't care what they do to Final Fantasy VII.

One of the reasons why FFVII is considered one of the 'best' in the series is because it is the first FF games to go 3D, from the previous 16-bit (or 32-bit or similar) sprite-based games. It was a pioneer in its time, but I wouldn't say it was the best of its time. FF: AC definitely has contributed to the hype though, and its various spin-offs.
I actually like the crappy blocky graphic than the realistic graphic today. =.=
Overhyped? Not really. You can blame the fanboys for that.
FFVII & FFX = my favorites. And yes, I've played all FFs, including the ones that never came out to the states (emulators, anyone?).
How do I rate myself as a gamer? Pretty high -- FFXI: SAM75/NIN75/RNG75/BLM75 with all the best gear, thanks to the HNM LS I was a part of. And then of course, there's WoW, which I dropped in less than two years. Seriously, T6 gear in just two months after hitting Lv. 70? The game required no work whatsoever. Hell, even arena was easy if you had the right partner(s) -- the right gear and the right strategies.
The former paragraph was mentioned in order to show you guys that I'm not a casual gamer -- beat it, toss it = no, thanks.

Alright I will put it streight out to you. Final Fantasy VII was the first game to include 3d and somewhat of a realistic size proportion system to the surrounding buildings. The battle system still somewhat the same as the there other games. There summons, graphics and in game cinimatics were great not to mention in 3D. The game was just basically beast! Not to mention the story line got it's own movie, and a few seperate games, a few for cell phone, one for the PSP, and hopefully a few for the PS3.

Like Mysteryman2000 said: FF VII was the first installment of the FF serie in partially 3D graphic. The characters and story development was more than impressive and since it was and is the biggest hit for Squaresoft / Enix franchises and merchandises will never die out. Can't count how many spin-offs, prequels and sequels exist right now from only the FF VII franchise and I am to lazy to look for it.
I think is also the game with the most mini-game in a game that I ever seem. Those really multiply the gaming experience....chocobo race mini-game at that time could had been separate out as another ps game and sell well.
