Well.. he have his appearance and exposure... i think he will have some more because the hidden village of konoha and sand are allies now so more mission that could possibly include gaara..

Will Gara become stronger on his own, after he was deprived from his Bijuu Powers?? If he ever returns this year, how much will he have developed himself? And would he be able to show Naruto some new tricks.

I don't think he'll be back for a while. Naruto Shippuuden is seriously pissing me off. It's mostly about Akatsuki and Sasuke now. -throws rocks at Sasuke-

You're not going to see Gaara for a really, really long time. He hasn't made an appearance since chapter 280-ish (and that was how many years ago?), and as of this post, there are 390 chapters out.

Well, I guess the anime might eventually add in Gaara filler episodes to appease the fans and/or for the sake of filler itself. But yeah. For the past 100+ chapters in the manga, there has been no Gaara, and it doesn't look like he'll be making a comeback any time soon. I don't know how many episodes that will amount to exactly in Shippuuden, but it'll be a doozy.

Plus, I heard that in an interview, Kishimoto said there's going to be a lot of focus on Sasuke this year. Wonderful. T_T

It would be nice to see gaara more often! i agree with that! :D

but as theyve said, after the sukkaku was taken of him, he needs to learn how tofight by himself, why ould take some time i guess =S

I doubt we'll see Gaara for a while.

1. He's the Kazekage so it doesn't (canonically) give him much room to up and leave the Hidden Village of Sand to help on missions just like Tsunade can't go and help Naruto on missions.
2. There isn't really much for him to do anymore, they've concluded on the lonely-all-his-life arc of his character so there isn't much to do for him now except come back and make a cameo appearance and probably show losing the Bijuu didn't make him weaker. (Probably to inspire Naruto that he doesn't need the Kyuubi's help to beat anyone)

Gaara got simple and old in shippuden. So theres really no need for him to show up. I felt they made him too weak compared to when he first appeared in the series. I think the creator just got bored with the character.

Gaara will probably not be showing up very soon and maybe not even at all after all what are his powers now that he is no longer the sand ninja? can he even control the sand now that the sand demon is no longer inside of him?
so many things we don't know yet i believe are obvious, gaara has lost the powers that made him unique and therefore should simply appear as the kazekage not helping konoha with their incredibly over-powered enemies and i must say if he does have his powers even after he has lost Shikaku it will be a cheap way of not losing fans because he is a popular character.
i love gaara too i like his psychotic personality in naruto now he's kind of turning into a pansy in shippuuden but meh, i still like him but i seriously think it is obvious he has or should've lost his greatness.

It did been a while hasn't it??
And he really fight awesome,
I particular didn't like genjutsu, well
I mean it's cool at first but after Sasuke and
Itachi fight it really annoy me.
I really like Gaara fighting style though,
really crazy the first time I see him fight
in the sand with Akasuki. One of my favorite
fighting screen on Naruto series!

I think that Kishimoto is holding Gaara for a surprise or somewhat like this. Like, when they're are going to lose a battle vs any overpowered guy he appears and saves them with new jutsus he learned after training hard =P
