This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.

While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

I always wanted to know what other people thought about life.
in my opinion life is cueler than death. life always bites you in the butt. everything that we do can either have a bad consequence or the outcome of something wonderful. most of the time our outcomes are negative. this makes most of our self-esteem drop and then we always have to start over again. after awhile it get's depressing. like how much bad s*** can we take?

death would solve all our problems. like we won't have to worry about anything. it would be great.

although i say this, i personally don't want my life taken away from me. ya all this crap is happening to me but i'll put up with it.

anywho, i would like to know your opinion on life. and if you think life is crueler than death

The problem with this question is no one really knows what death is like so we can't really say which is better. If hell exists, then I think it's probably worse than life, but I don't know if it's real or not.

I kind of dislike what your saying, though I'm not saying I disagree with it. Sure, death might solve your misery, but it's such an easy way out. It seems kind of cowardly to me to just give up life and kill yourself because your having trouble with it (for most cases anyways). Not to mention, you don't know what death is. You don't know that it will end your misery. You could just end up reincarnated and have to live another life. So I think it's dumb to just say "death could solve everything" because you don't know that.

And I don't think life always bites you in the butt either. Good things happen, people just don't pay attention to them. You have to face it, we like to be miserable. People like to whine and complain.

Such a depressing topic. anyway, I think it depends on ourselves on how we view life. We take life as if it were a course. we encounter tests like problems and we make decisions on what we feel like doing. when it comes to results we end up with different reactions. Some of us will tend to correct the mistakes and learn from it. and for some, they'll live it as it is and take what we got. In school, its the students that do trial by error and learn from it and always pass. same concept in life.

I guess it depends on what deity you worship and what the afterlife or lack of is defined as. For me, I believe in Heaven and Hell. So, if I go to Heaven, death is much sweeter than life. And if I go to Hell...then I would have definitely tried to find some way not to die!

I think religion has nothing to do with it...my thought is that you were offered a life...it's the greates gift you could've been offered...respect it. Of course, it's not a free gift...you have to pay for it in time...so you can't expect everything on a silver platter now, can you...? Yeah...life's hard...it makes you wanna crawl in a hole and scream so no one can hear you...it makes you wish you weren't able to wish...but it's your's...you must respect it...

And death...as the law of energy conservation says, energy is not lost, but transformed. So even if our physical appearence will be deleted and forgotten, our essence remains...

Anyway, my conclusion is respect life, as it is the greates gift you could be offered and don't await death, for it will come by itself...

I agree.

I think life is much more creul than death. I sometimes can't stand being alive because I have to deal with people and responsibilities. If I was dead, then I most likely won't have to deal with those things.

I also think life is crueler than death--unless you happen to die while being tortured.

That's why suicide is the coward's way out.

Speaking of suicide, why do the cops and SWAT teams try to keep people from committing suicide? I don't recall that being against the law--if they want to take themselves out, then that's their business

If life is crueler than death is a hard to answer question since no one truly knows what awaits us after death. For all we know, we could simply die and be nothing more at all but just a memory. Or we could end up being reincarnated as another form in another place in another time, who knows? but to answer that question, Yes I do believe life is crueler than death. Everyday you constantly go about your life with the risk of death hanging over your head, either it be by car crash, or simply falling down the stairs. I could really keep going on about this topic, but I honestly am not in the mind set to answer any more. Sorry ^^;

Life of an individual is a purely coincidential and unjustified existence. Any purpose that individual finds is ultimately trivial. Life, in itself, is as trivial as anything in the entire universe, and thus should not be valued any greater. The fact that Earth has life is just as much a rarity as the fact Earth even exists. But we take that for granted everyday, even though it's just as important.

Life is very very cruel. I know cuz miserable things always happen to me. But I heard something the other day. It was in the movie Little Miss Sunshine, the movie is not the important part. In the movie there was a part where one of the characters tell a story. It was about some French mathematician who had a miserable life. He was brilliant and yet no payed attention to his work. He wrote a book and no one read it... But on his deathbed, he said what he enjoyed the most was the years of his life where he suffered. Because it was those things that made him who he was.
Now if you think about it, it is very true. We don't become stronger from the nice things in life, we become stronger from the cruel things in life. Like school :) Life would suck if it were all nice and easy. It be boring and dull, you'll always know the outcome of everything. The cruel things make it exciting and the cruel things make it worth living.
Death just ends things. What fun is that? Life is crueler, but its also more fun/exciting. Pain and sadness are just another feeling like love. Why live, if you are not going to experience it all? It's like going to a theme park and not riding the roller coasters; they are scary but fun.

Call me vague, but I have a sneaking suspicion no one here actually knows how cruel life is. I surely don't. I'm sitting in an air conditioned room, on a full stomach (had Chinese for dinner), and typing in the comfortable confines of my apartment while cloaked in the dull light of an expensive LCD monitor. This is quite a far cry from starving in Sudan, being raped as a child prostitute in Thailand, or watching my parents explode in front of me via a suicide bomber in Sadar City.

Girl/relationship problems, social issues, and a mild case of acne are about the worst problems most of this board have ever seen. If this is cruel, then all I can do is laugh. :D

Mush so. My dad died of a heart attack in 2005 at 55 leaving all of us behind and since then the family has fallen apart. My mother has taken all of his stuff and has either sold it or is selling it to get rid of it and kicked me out to live in my car this past winter telling me that my dad wants me to spend X-mas in my car and she was just carrying out his will which was total BS. So now I wish that she was the one that died instead of my dad.
