Will Bleach become the new DBZ?
Ok, so I've thought a lot about this topic and seeing how long this series could eventually go this question has come up between my friends. The overall plot between the two are almost identical...Bad guy come to earth wants to destroy something and good guys must again begin training to defeat this foe. However, the only exception to the story would be the first couple of seasons of Bleach were Ichigo saves Rukia.
Is there a limit to soul reapers powers? The way I see it; soul reapers can first become super human more or less, second they can now call out their sword, third they are able to Bankai. Watching the show and reading the manga every week has lead me to believe that Bankai is the same as super sayian. So as the bad guys in the story become more powerful will there be a bankai x2 and so on? You can say Ichigo has almost claimed this new form of power with his Vizard friends.
I really want to see what you guys have to say about this... I wasted my life on DBZ when I was in middle school and I really hope Bleach doesn't disappoint in the upcoming seasons.

I've been thinking about the same thing too. The two are really almost identical, Ichigo has to power up to go rescue a girl. He runs into powerful opponents and struggles to get past them. He gets stronger and stronger. Trains and trains.
There's definitely a limit to the powers of a Soul Reaper, and for those of a Vaizard too. I don't think Ichigo'll obtain more powers after his Vaizard limit.
I really don't want Bleach to turn into another Dragon Ball Z too, so I'm honestly hoping it'll end after the Hueco Mundo arc. If it does go on, then I think I'll stop watching, you'd really believe it is going to turn into another DBZ...
Well it's a good thing you didn't waste your time on GT.. ;P
(Not that I did.)

To be honest, I would rather bleach just ended right about now, well as far as the anime is concerned. When I read the manga, I couldn't stop being excited, it flowed so well and the story was amazing. Since I stopped reading the manga, and followed the anime exclusively, I feel it has lost its magic. I know everyone will think "oh another person who moans about the manga being better", but it is simply not a case of that. Here is the bottom line: Too much of anything, no matter how good, is a bad thing. Bleach never ends; the least they could have done was taken proper breaks which would actually merit calling story arcs season 1 and season 2. Instead they take 2 week breaks here and there, and fill the plot with anime originals which quite frankly make no sense. Couple that with the very bad animation we have seen in recent weeks, and I have to say, Bleach has been reduced from a almost perfect 9/10 for me to a meager 6/10.

Personally i sadly see bleach becoming the next dbz in a bad way. there are a lot of battles that could easily be finished within a single episode, but the show takes 3 or 4 episodes with all the dialogue and the staredowns and whatnot. hopefully it will change as it continues
NO!!
I have one big reason to say this and that is the fact that:
DBZ ROCKS!
BLEACH SUCKS!!

Both DBZ and Bleach BOTH suck. Both are too similar in that the series itself can't go a week without a battle and the endless weak hero strong boss new power cycle is continued. Both were interesting back in the day and back when they were new, not it's just stupid. In Bleach's defense however, at least it didn't start off with one thing and end with something else, ie, DB = Magic , DBZ = Aliens?

I started watching bleach with my self watching every episode and then reading the manga, not missing a second or a line... but now i just skip through the episodes only getting what basicly is happening, since that's all you need, catch a few show line the characters throw around and then it is just stupid fighting that drags on. i still follow the manga since it still got some good stories but after the filler for the anime, i totally gave up.
I wish they would put bleach off air for a while until manga gets a bit of story then start the anime again.

How many episodes are they up to now in bleach?

Well i have been watching dbz for like 20 odd years now i dont even know how many episodes there are but i noticed the feel of the series changed at 3 definate points, when san goku grew up, & again when they released dragonball gt. then i lost interest.
i mean they just start doing silly things like when they get too old, turn them young and start all over again. there always only so much a story can be streched with characters that dont age.

Well, one thing that i have gotten tired of is the fillers. The way things were going in the beginning of season 6, I thought it was going to be the best season out of all of them, until the fillers started. They weren't that bad in the beginning of the series but now it's just horrible. I know that fillers are necessary sometimes, but they could've done a much better job. A whole episode about baking a cake? WTF?! Oh and to answer pandakiki's question there are 137 episodes so far.
Where exactly are the filler episodes? I've watched up to episode 126 so far and the only fillers that I know of (and I'm not even sure of that) is the Bounto arc, which I thought wasn't all that bad... I dunno. Maybe I'm just stupid, but it's flowed quite nicely in my opinion.
As for comparing Bleach to DBZ, I wouldn't know. The animation/art style in DBZ annoyed me too much for me to watch it - 3-foot tall foreheads FTL!

DBZ and Bleach are 2 different things 2 compare. 20th century, 21th century. Different scenario, battle style, drawings, tech and more. If Bleach looks like DBZ (I don’t see anything similar) so plenty more other anime. I think Bleach have a prototype scenario and comedy style. Yes. I think. Probably. ps:(Will Bleach become the new DBZ?) Keep on dreaming.
Of course not!!!infact....i don't know.they ain't that similar or are they?any way far from it, GT4md is totally right
Yep, they've something in common, but I think that they're very different. DBZ have an objective, search the balls, but Bleach is only battles, no?
Im glad this topic is getting some good feedback... GT4md I can see what you mean, I am also a DBZ fanatic; from the show and manga to video games, collectors cards and even figurines. Bleach cannot even compare to how awesome DBZ was or hell how Dragonball was. All I'm saying is in this era, like DBZ, Bleach has become extremely popular and I question how long the series might last and maybe how crazy their attacks could get.
The series itself couldn't match up to DBZ in the long run since DBZ (when first aired) was "the show to watch" for soo many episodes and was still able to keep the attention of the viewer, even if that whole episode was nothing but charging :p. Bleach however, is losing some steam; airing episodes that involve cake baking and not even close to following the manga. This is probably one reason the series has lost most of its viewers. DBZ lost some viewers when they released their new series GT, like myself. I personally would like to see Bleach finish sometime soon. The Bounto filler episodes were better than this crap in my opinion... at least it had some action.
Well anyway I guess we will have to wait and see how long Bleach will go on...
