Why do you get the Original Sound Track OST??
As a devoted fan to an anime, ill collect random stuff, stuff like for example and OST,
great to listen to the original tracks of my few favourite themes but now wat :P
like id imagine OST sales aren't doing that bad at the markets seeing how their still releasing so much of them
so question is "Why do you buy them?"

Buy them to support the artists and show off to friends just how much of an otaku you are! :)
Many anime OSTs are very beautiful and have a wide range of sounds and pieces you can listen to when you're not watching the anime show. Not only do I want to support the talented composers who make them (like Yuki Kajiura, Michiru Oshima and Koutarou Nakagawa, three of my favorite anime music composers, as you may have known from some of my recent forum posts), but I just downright love the music, and instrumentals relax me especially when I'm studying or stressed out.
If i were to buy OST's it would be because I want to show support for the anime series. I would buy the OST's because i like the anime and that I want to listen to the songs? xD The only problem is I don't have the money to buy the OST's just for a few songs i like, unless i really like the anime.

I buy the OST because I love the music so much (especially those by Kajiura Yuki, Kanno Youko, and for game, Shimomura Youko and Uematsu and I want to listen to them regardless I am watching the anime or not ^^ Besides, it is also a for of support from me to the series.
Funny, ya know wat, at most times in an OST i really only hav like half a dozen that i really like and listen to them again and again so yeh... the rest.. just sits there collecting dust.. i mean ya cant like everything right

Coze the music rocks, and you want to listen to it without the character's dialogs in the way. Initial D has an awesome soundtrack. And of course, to support the artist and show off yur otakuness
I never buy OST. I always download it since it's hard to get the OSTs in my country. Yeah, i know it's illegal, but that's how it is. I can't enjoy the OST without downloading them.
I download OST when i heard some songs in the anime / game that sounded great. And i just think "oooh, the music is great, i think i have to download this". So sometimes, i downloaded all the soundtracks just for 1 song only. When i watch Air Gear in Animax-Southeast Asia channel, i heard a song and it rocks. The song keep ringing in my ears. So i downloaded the whole soundtracks just for this song.

I just buy, when I have the money, that is, only the OSTs of anime that I really like. Usually it's just a couple of songs per cd, but well yeah, I enjoyed them very much. Though I could download, I find it better to have my own original copy.
I haven't bought a single piece of music since I started my iTunes account.
Yes, I still pay for it, but never in a store.
But for anime OST and so on, I regret to say I still rely on Hotel Galbadia and Gendo, sometimes Tokyotosho.
Now the thing is it is not my will to support piracy, but let us face it, where there is demand not being met, they provide it, I am only consuming, I show my fair share of support, but that doesn't mean I should dedicate my ass to the entire "run for the original only" move.
Surely, nobody is that dumb, plus, you save a couple of hundred dollars a year if you download individual tracks than having the entire album with all but one song worth your listening to.

I buy them because I am a fan of the anime their in, or, I just really love the background music and the Theme Songs. I buy them so that I can listen to it properly without characters talking or any of that sort. Yep. Actually they are just simple actions, but some music can really brighten up your day. Also, you can just play a game with yourself by remembering when did the background music started or so forth, which is kinda cute, don't you think? Also, it brings to remind you how much you loved the anime, when you've already forgotten, and bring back old memories of the past, neh. That's the usual stuff which happens to me. ^-^.
I like to have the original version of the things I really like, so that's the reason I bought them.
Also, it sounds better a CD than a MP3, no matter how well ripped the mp3 is.

Well I never bought the OST's. I only download them. Like omnidevil I download them from Hotel Galbadia. Only specific tracks that I enjoy. I listen to them when I get totally bored of my songs (with lyrics). Makes no difference on my studying. The only thing that does is the sound of rain. I seem to work better with natural sounds -> which some tracks of MGS3 feature.
I buy it because I can.
