Report of a girl in China dying after playing a game several days straight. Of course we all sympathise with people dying but , as in my other Violence thread, the xinhua site seems almost to be putting blame on the game makers. Quotes such as "she was approaching a particularly hard part of the game" and therefore was concentrating that much harder, and some game companies putting in anti-obsession stuff in their games! Surely the fault lies at the feet of the person playing the game? Whats your opinions on this alarmingly increaing trend?

You should put this on the other fourm topic talking about the violence in games and how it *cough* is responsible *cough*cough* for people commiting rediculous crimes and blame going to gamemakers.
I don't understand why someone would die after playing a game for several days straight. Did they not eat or drink and starve or die of dehydration? How stupid do you have to be to do something that rediculous and die playing a game?
I can't even sit and play a game for that long, let alone several days straight?! I guess if there's REALLY nothing else to do with your life, but you have to sleep, eat, drink, and go to the bathroom SOMETIME!! It's stupid people giving all of the gamers out there a bad rap again...

O.o Wow.. I think that it is the people. Games are fine until they start to hurt your social life or school grades( ^^;; ) then you need to re-analize your priorities. That'd suck though.. dying from playing a games for day on end. O.o

Ppl have to realize people dying from video games is a RARE thing, and alos you have to have massive...MASSIVE amount of vgs... and now people are putting the blame on the video game compaines for their deaths...it is so rare and STUPID to blame the companies for this... I mean, there are far worse things to be concerned about...
Damn a lot of people have been dying in china due to playing video games (i've heard about 3-5 more cases just like that in the past)

Wow, I love video games. But that is taking it too far. It's kinda sad. It was kind for the other gamers hold a funeral service for her.
The thing I'm asking how the hell didn't she realise that she was hungry, or needed to use the toilet and stuff. I mean.. normally a few days without food won't harm, and if she looses that much liquid she couldn't have kept on playing :) C'mon ppl, get a life.. this is ridicolous. I remember playing FF7 3 days straight, with a maximum sleeping limit of 2 hours per day. That was tiring, but not fatal. I'm alive and kicking... just ridicolous.. anyway RIP Snowly, may you pave way to national holidays on Azeroth...
Incredibly stupid. It's like that guy Jack Thompson who makes video games the cause of people being violent. It's not the games but the people themselves whether it be games or something else.

Gaming is HUGE in Asia...Korea has professional gamers. That's why I can easily see this happening. I've heard of it quite a few times in the last few weeks as well - a woman even went so far as to have her son banned from every gaming centre in the city where they lived so that he would go to work, eat, sleep etc. because he was so addicted he disappeared for days on end. It's just ridiculous when they take things to such extremes...but they do the same with other things here, so we can't really criticise too much *shrugs*
