I've never heard of that newpaper company but it'd be pretty cool, having manga stripes in newpapers, but they cannot leave out Dilbert and all of those other cartoon stripes because they're funny too.
I read an article lately, and i think it was confirmed already... they even showed the manga they were going to show.. apparently its to make the newspaper appeal to a younger audience ^_^ the Japan influence is spreading quicker than we think...
They should run manga that's already in a strip friendly format, like Azumanga Daioh ^^
I don't think the general American public is ready for the crazy/japanese humor that is Azumanga Daioh :PThey should run manga that's already in a strip friendly format, like Azumanga Daioh

Well in philippines some newspaper already have some artist that uses anime style in drawing i dont know if you can classify them as manga... maybe they are already manga... :)
There is a downfall to that just like introducing Anime to children. Soon little kids will like it Shirt lunch boxes and what not will come out and they will degrade it to a "Childs cartoon". I have a hard enough time trying to explain that anime/manga arent just cartoons. But yeah now that I got distracted in the middle of my rant I'm done for now.

Hmmm... I've never seen any manga or anime styled comic strips in US newspapers... that'd B interesting but not sure if it would catch on right away... maybe in areas where there's more asians (california)...
at any rate it'll be interesting to see what happens... ;o)

Manga on a newspaper would certainly attract a lot more teenagers that are anime fans. It'd actually make teenagers look at the newspaper each day. It would be cool if they ever used that idea in Canada's newspaper. I'd probably read it every single day.
Thus could be a good thing because. now smaller magas can be come bigger ones and also it doesnot coast as much to buy a newpaper
Where? o_O

I am still a student i do not have the enought mney i buy a book i will not to eat anything in a month because i only have less then $800 a month so if i collect the manga i will too hungry i must be soon dead and well the manga is so good i can not believe if my life do not have the manga it can be how and how i will do in every day i do not have anythong to do expct to see the book but i can only buy the cd i can not faind the real book in my country i can find it in some web but i do not have the denought money to by it its too expensive but the cd i can do it for its not too expensive for me to buy it and sometines i can easily find it in some shops but the book i can not find because not many people to buy it for the perfer to see the anime not to see the comic its too tired, but i like to see the book tis more fun the anime for some short sotry on it but anmie do not have it in ,so the book is good ,i can not choose if i will to buy the manga or not ,its too difficult for me to do
Does anyone know how that would work though? I mean, I think there are many manga that were originally published in magazines, but still, that's far too much then to put in magazines and I personally have never read a manga that you could put one line of drawings at a time and have it work. And many manga tell stories where as most American comic strips are single standing things and it makes no difference really if you have ever read that particular comic before for it to make you laugh.
I don't see what's so wrong about introducing kids to anime. Start the fandom early. :) Though, actually, in some ways, I think anime is either seen in two extremes: 1) being for kids because it is drawn ~rolls eyes~ like that explains it all, ne? or 2) something 'inappropriate' because in so many stores (at least that I go to to find anime) stick it all right next to the porn section ~twitch~ But, if manga did find it's way into the newspaper, I don't think that would necessarily make people associate anime more with kids then they already do. After all, adults read the comics all the time don't they? And kids don't generally buy a newspaper to read the comics. They probably would only look at them if their parents get the newspaper. Right? Or did I grow up in an unusual environment?

I hope my local newspaper gets manga in it.

Well the manga they are planning on putting in newspapers isn't really manga. They were American drawn, so I myself would read to check it out, but I'm generally against American artists calling thier comics manga because it just doesn't seem right, because all the American released manga (Mega Tokyo excluded) don't look nice enough to be released in Japan, which I believe is the standard...
