Evangelion is the greatest!
I don't agree...the ending was really messed up for me -_- It was a total mind-boggler and made me feel...really pathetic for wasting my time on the anime. I do believe the manga is better, though. Either way, I think it's one of those overrated anime/manga series.

I believe NGE's ending was pretty good and are we talking about the movie or the series ending? Well when I finished the movie I felt more depressed then annoyed. Yeah I was annoyed with the how it ended with the movie but it wasn't at all horrible.
"Neon Genesis Evangelion" was a great anime but you should try read the manga too and i know they haven't finished it yet but you know the ending is gonna be different. with the manga it's ending is the TRUE ending because that is how the anime got started

I have yet to finish the anime and even if the ending was bad, I'll still finish it anyway. However I do think that the characters were pretty good. I mean I've gotten pretty much the entire ending from spoilers and watch the movies. I think the creator was preaching something and I got what he meant. Evangelion is in no way the greatest but every anime has its flaws.
Never the less evangelion is one of the greatest series ever created because it was so different. It was not your usual mech warrior anime, it had a different story line and was completely the oposite of any gundam series. For me EVA is the greatest anime develop. But then again that is just me.

I would agree with your disagree ment ^_^. I liked Evangelion, but I don't think that it is the great epic masterpiece that a lot of so-called "otakus" believe it to be. It has some really obscure aspects that aren't really explained, and might not even have an explanation beyond fan speculation. THe angel vs Evangelion fights are entertaining, theres an intense lif or death feel to some of them. Some of the characters got a little annoying after a while (sure, i would whine a lot if i were a 14 year old boy with the pressure of saving the world with some berserk bio-mechanical thingymajigger but still...it gets old) Evangelion did spawn one of my favorite characters in all of anime though, Pen Pen...he is awesome. Beer drinkin, genetically modified, hot springs Penguin...can't go wrong...

I agree that the ending was "paralyzing" but that doesnt change the fact for me that this anime is a masterpiece. the whole story, shinji's character development. i also liked all the religious themes that appered in this anime.

The ending was rushed done the ending was how the writer felt because when he did the series he finished it with out the films even in mind but fans of the series flooded him with letters and threatend to litrally kill him if he didnt make the ending better hence the ending we have it shows that no matter what happens in life there is always hope signified by the eva lasting forever in space as a sign of humanity.

NGE is the greatest.. before GITS.. but it's still a magnificent anime.. it still look good and the story is still amazing for a 10-years old anime.. The ending of the movie is cool, but the ending of the anime is somehow... it's hard to swallow the ending... but it's still a grat anime.. anyone agree??

You all cant just judge this fantastic series on its ending it was an amazing piece of animation the music every time i hear Bach my hairs on my arm stand up there is no reson for you all to say it was a bad series because of the ending that shows your reasoning is flawed all the battles all the indepth look into their lives shinji and his dad asuka and her mum and the production of rei even misato and her fling it all adds to make one heck of a series even karou and kinske his love for the evas its funny sad crazy it has everything!!

um just to clear things up...did the producer not kill himself?.......and i loved the evangelion series....its truly amazing....as for the ending....i believe that

it had something to do with the whole adam and eve contraption...i dont want to go into detail.....cuz itd take eons to parsecs....but something within the border line

It was highly Biblical and i doubt the primarily Shinto population of Japan would catch many of the references.
Anno Hideaki only made a devastating ending (movies) because fans flooded his office and grafitti-ed the walls.
i bet his boss got horribly pissed off.
i saw a picture of the grafitti somewhere on google. try image search. you will see what i mean. the ink was light blue, i think.
hey, that is the colour of Rei Ayanami's hair!
also, i think Shinji is a loser with little/no balls.
then again if he was a violent character, that would destroy the series too...and NGE would become a typical hero anime.
