Totally agree, i find it too be WAY to overrated. WAAAY to many people are into it, and i dont see why.

I don't know how to put it better. The ending for this show was the absolute worst thing I have ever seen . . . My first real exposure to the classic anime "snuff film" ending, and I positively declared war on it in my mind. Horrible. I tell every friend I have that is not familiar with anime to stay forty feet clear of this unless they like to be heartbroken and miserable for days.

NGE was a great anime it has a great story , great soundtrack and the ending was great too if you have seen the movie it's great the anime was great and the story was so good and well done .

Perhaps the ability to make you hate it so strongly can be seen as a good point.

I still don't care what anyone says, I think the story was as complete as it needs to be at the end of episode 26. The movies were sort of like "FINE! Here is literally what happens". I suppose that's because I enjoy thinking about things, making inferences and coming to my own conclusion. Everyone has their preference, though. Moreover, I still say everyone should at least give Evangelion a try, it's certainly a love it/hate it thing, and even if it's the latter, still a shining example of what anime should be.

EVA Fans in Japan were complaining about the official Series Ending (Episodes 25 and 26), or so I was told by reliable sources,... so the Creators made up two movies to make the Ending as logical as possible,... which in my Opinion is still an Open Ending as I mentioned before...

Amen, Shere. Amen. I was just venting because up until that point, I was more than a fan! I thought it was great. Indeed, it has good qualities. The ending really broke my heart. I can see totally how that would be an excellent plot device and very provocative . . . if I didn't think it was a mental lapse by an otherwise visionary director. You know what they say . . . the higher you get, the farther you fall. I fell pretty far after this one. I still stand by my anger at the ending, but will concede that it was a great show for the first 7/10ths! :D

No...Evangelion is a disappointment to me. The characters, the story line just totally sux! The only part I liked was probably when they were playing DDR...but other than that...I thought it was a waste of my time. Yeah..I know...a lot of people brag about it being the greatest anime ever made...but I just don't agree with them. Maybe it's just me, who knows. But...Evangelion isn't all that great.

Personally, I loved the series. I think it is one of the best, if not the best, anime title of all times. I fell in love with each character, from the vivacious Misato, antagonistic Asuka, to the enigma that is Rei Ayanami. I can honestly say there are only a few anime titles that can completely captivate me the way that NGE did. I mean, come on, I don't think there's anyone out there who can honestly say that they didn't feel Shinji's pain when they pulled Toji out of the entry plug. Or when Misato broke down and cried when she found out the love of her life, Kagi, was killed. There is a reason that people regard NGE as one of the great animes of all times, that's because it is.

well, never get to see the movies but i got a hold of the OVAs. so far, it was fulfilling for me. though i was kinda disturbed with some scenes in the series, overall the anime is A-OKAY :) i can give it my 2 thumbs up... or an 8/10 XD

My god, that was one of the most eerie moments I've ever seen in an anime. You hear Misato's voice over the radio, she's fighting through her fit of crying to try and tell Shinji what she had been struggling with for a while. The fact that Toji was the pilot of the "Angel" that Shinji just unwillingly defeated. But before she can get it out, Shinji sees for himself.

Anyway, There's alot to say about this series, and that's because of the fact the alot is left to interpretation. Which, I think, is a wonderful thing. I'm just repeating myself at this point, in this topic, but some things need reiteration. Watch it, and make your own opinion on it. Don't go into it with the expectations that others set. It isn't a "Mind boggler" it isn't "The greatest anime ever" not unless that's what you take it as. Don't set the bar high and expect the series to exceed it.

Just watch it.

I've seen a little of Evangelion... I did not care about this anime until they had it on public tv, making me watch it because there is nothing to watch.... I wouldn't say the greatest... Asuka looks funny and the english voice made it funny too.... Gosh, this is just another one of those mecha animes...
