Princess Mononoke will always be my main favourite.
Hmm. I haven't watched too many anime movies. I need to look into a few. I just got the xxHolic movie and will watch it tonight. I'll probably peek back in to see some titles.

For me it's clearly one of Miyazaki's masterpieces. He's not called the God of animation for nothing. I would personally recommend Nausicaa, Laputa, Mononoke Hime, and Spirited Away.

Whoah. Though one... I've actually thought of this numerous times yet never come up with a certain number one. I have however narrowed it down to three films (exluding all series related ones).

And the nominees are:

Beyond the Clouds (Makoto is great when it comes to emphazing feelings and his eye for colour is like no others)
Ghost in the Shell (innocence was also great, but the original stole my heart)
Princess Mononoke (Miyazaki has the ability to create incredible worlds and make them feel credible)

As for series related, I wasn't going to mention it, but I believe End of Evangelion is the best.

I'm still debating with myself on that. It'd be Ghost in the Shell, Ninja Scroll or End of Evangelion

I dont know...
I picked Grave of the Fireflies because of how different it is...

Movies I really like are:
Vampire Hunter D,
Akira,
GITS,
Ninja Scroll,
and AppleSeed.

Those are all good, they are just movies though, its really hard to pick your favorite 1hr and 30min anime lol

Hmmm.... I would have to say that my favorites are small in number but I don't have a "number one." All the different genras make that almost impossible.

I agree with most so far that Princess Mononoke should be up there. Also on my list are Jin-Roh and GITS. I also really like Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. Before EVERYBODY chops me to ribbons let me say this, I've never played any FF so I had no expectations, they may as well have just called it The Spirits Within and I would have been just as happy. I'm also a really big fan of the Escaflowne movie as well as the Tenchi Movies.

I agree with you alot. Jin-Roh always seems to be overlooked, but I really liked it. More sappy then most movies I'd watch but I was alright with it. GitS was alright, but I'm not sure if it'd really be my favorite to be honest. And I was fine with Final Fantasy movie. What they needed to do was get rid of the Final Fantasy and it would have been alright.
Akira was a good movie. The character styles are kinda ugly, but the effects and animation were crazy (that's a good thing).
The Escaflowne movie wasn't that good, I think. It tried to hard to condense the series and wasn't paced very well.
End of Evangelion I liked, but mostly because I had the original ending to compare to.
Mononoke-hime used to be my favourite Miyazaki film, but now that I've seen alot more of his work, I'm not so sure. Nausicaa was paced a little funny too. I liked it better second time around when I didn't notice the pacing. Laputa was a good one, I think.
And Pom Poko. I dunno. It's kind of wierd cuz of the tanuki's...um..."pouches"...but blah. It was a cute movie. I'm still kinda childish and all.

Miyazaki's movies are masterpieces like Princess Monoke and Spirited Away. I haven't really watched any anime movies because I mostly watch series instead.

Well thankfully I have watched a good share of anime/anime related movies. Like everyone the "god of animation" is one of the top few with Princess Mononoke. But there is also Apple Seed, Voices of a Distant Star, and I cant forget Metropolis by the person who made Astro boy...ahhh Astro Boy what fond memories and new memories thanks to the revamped series. But my all time fav so far is still Cowboy Bebop: Knocking on heavens door. Who cant love the funk and what not of Bebop? Not to mention the whole art and tone of the series, DAISUKI!!

My favorite movie has to be Cowboy Bebop: knocking on Heaven's Door. The movie had great actions and the story line kept you interested the whole time. The other great thing is that it fits in with the Cowboy Bebop serie, it's not just a random movie, but it could of been of been an episode of the serie, but they decide to make it into a movie instead. Well I love the serie and the movie, I'm just a Cowboy Bebop kind of guy, my one and only favorite anime.

I have to confess I haven't seen most "classic" anime movies like Akira or Grave of Fireflies. I saw Princess Mononoke and thought it was really overrated. I was watching the Oscars and saw the clip they played of Howl's Moving Castle, and thought it's probably the last thing I would ever want to watch, mostly because the art style was kinda... odd. Art style matters the most to me, I think. For example, I could never get over the weird Doonesbury noses in Escaflowne (the mecha-ness didn't help either).

I've seen:
Appleseed 2004
AMG the Movie
Rurouni Kenshin: Requiem for the Ishin Shishi
FFVII: Advent Children
Princess Mononoke

Of those, I think I like AMG the best (yeah, I'm a girl >.>).

Another thing is, most anime I'm aware of exists in some combination of 30min episodes, so most anime is techinically not movies, even though some OVAs are pretty much subdivided movies, like Rurouni Kenshin OVAs (Rememberance and Reflection in the USA). If I were to count the Kenshin OVAs as a movie, then that would be my favorite.

Tough one. I enjoy every single one I've seen, but some that stand out are:
-Appleseed
-Kaze no Tani no Nausicaa
-Mononoke Hime
-Howl's Moving Castle
-Spirited Away
-Tonari no Totoro
-etc.
(All in Jap of course, never liked the dubbing)
