I'm a huge fan of Code Geass and I wait every monday for a new episode of R2, but recently I have noticed that the final episodes of this anime are indeed very similar to The End of Evangelion. Some examples:

1. Everybody's dying
2. Lelouch, CC and Kallen resemble me the Shinji, Rei and Asuka trio. If CG actually ends like NGE, everybody will die except them.
3. The new knigthmares are very similar to Eva's in color, shapes and wings. They also have AT-like fields.
4. The original plan of Lelouch's father was very similar to Gendo Ikari's plans in the end of evangelion.

What do you think?

I think u're right on 1, 3 and 4, but i see diferent the way those 3 are between them, and i don't really think will gonna end like NGE

Who cares whether they are similar or not... are you trying to say thats a good thing or not!? Just treat them as mutually exclusive anime which have nothing to do with each other... is that so hard to do?

If the writers and directors are smart, they should make it different and more happier or more tragic than Evangelion. Otherwise, some old fans gonna be disappointed

The writer is the creator then he/she has the power to everything about it
we shall see what we'll happen next, it is up to him or her if the concept is the same with Evangelion then it might be a coincidence.

Several Things...

1. NOTHING can be as messed up as the End of Evangelion. period. end of story.

2. Did you just equate Lelouch vi Brittania, the only person who does a mind-rape as good as itachi Uchiha, to shinji ikari? The absolute WHINIEST ROBOT PILOT IN A HISTORY OF WHINY ROBOT PILOTS? Really? C.C. and kallen, yes kinda like rei and asuka. lelouch and shinji...no. no no no no.

3. yes, everyone is going to die rather messily in the way of shakespearean tragedy. (Read Hamlet and you'll understand)

that's my two cents.

It has some similarities indeed.. But I kinda get the feeling they are trying they're best to outdo evangelion.. By throwing all those things that don't even make that much sense haha

Why everything has to be good or bad? I'm only asking if you have noticed the similarities. Inspiration is a good thing, copycat is a bad one... I'm not judging anything, kid.

Hm, sorry, but i haven't watch Eva, but if you say about the tragic ending is true, perhaps its the same then (by seeing how things turn out in R2). and, by the way, have any comment with Schneizel, Suzaku and the Black Knights?

I agree with Gvnkwyr, but i think also:

1 - It's a war. It wouldn't be normal if nobody died.

2 - Asuka is some representation of how someone that just have one special thing lives watching how she loses that "thing".
CC acts as a watcher in the beginning. Rei begins as a pawn, or something like that.
Shinji and

3 - They look like similar to Gundam as well. I agree in AT-field.

Nothing about the rest

Just because characters are dying does not justify a comparison to another anime. We could talk about other anime where very important characters die. It sounds more like people took another very popular anime and looked at the coincidences and decided to shove two popular animes side by side to find what they had in common. I don't mind the creators of the show not being too particularly attached to their characters because then it adds for much more of a reaction if they do something I didn't see coming.

I think people are just trying to come up with comparisons between the two television shows. I don't see how Lelouch, C.C. and Kallen are anything like Shinji, Rei and Asuka. If we go by personality they're very different. Lelouch isn't a emo little boy who is afraid of everything, is fucked up in the head enough to jack off over a girl who is laying on a stretcher and asleep in extensive care.

C.C. may come off as emotionless like Rei, but they're nothing alike. C.C. actually has emotions. She wanted to be loved, she was loved (though it may have been fake due to her Geass) but she's nothing like Rei. She's smarter, more knowing and is aware of much more. That and she's not a clone of Lelouch's mother.

Kallen is too stupid to be Asuka. If you remember the intelligence levels that were placed next to each and every one of Lelouch's followers towards the beginning of R2 it shows Kallen as having very high loyalty and not so much in the area of brains. She is part of the Order because of her brother, and she's nowhere near as selfish and arrogant (and not to mention ignorant) as Asuka. Let's not forget that Asuka was basically crazy because her mother equated to and treated her as though she was a doll. Kallen was very loyal to Lelouch whereas Asuka hated Shinji's guts to no fucking end. She was short tempered and sometimes went bezerk.

Lots of characters plans were similar to Gendo's because that's what bad guys do... they attempt to destroy the world or start it over. Want to look at Read or Die the OVA series? The bad guy has to have some sort of plan to kill off all humanity, restart humanity, et cetera... you get the point.

In the end I think people are just trying to find coincidences between two popular anime. You can do it with anything.

Well, the anime has ended, and I am glad to say that all resemblances with the end of Evangelion where only that: resemblances. Fortunately, Code Geass had a happy ending, totally opposite to the bloodbath written by Gainax.
