How Is 'Manga' Pronounced?
I am sorry if I am asking a stupid question, but I heard it pronounced as 'man-ga' (like 'man' from 'human') and 'mon-ga' (like 'mon' from 'monster'). I have been wondering which one is correct. I pronounce it as 'mon-ga', so I don't know if I'm right or not.

Japanese pronounciation ma is like the ma in grandma. ga is like the g sound in gas. so it is mahn-gah

That is the true, Japanese way of pronouncing it and since "manga" is a Japanese word, it is indisputable. If you think otherwise, try pronouncing it any other way in Japan. I'm sure you would love to see the Japanese laugh at your broken accent.

Sorry, it's just that I have always pronounced it like that, but a couple people with me argued that it's the other way! I hate pronouncing things wrong, so I needed to ask. Also, I didn't feel as if this belongs in the manga forum, because I am not discussing any particular manga.

Yup, that's the way I pronounce it. Moreover, italian has no difference between the way you write a word and how you pronounce it, so the pronounce is like should be in japanese.
If it's in Japanese, it's pronounced man(the a pronounced as in 'martini', but replacing the 'r' with an 'n' and omitting the 'tini'.) -ga( like saying 'gun' but omitting the 'n'.)

I think its pronounced "m-ah-n-ga. just follow it like the japanese script so pronounce the "ma" character first then the "n" character followed by the "ga" character. treat every character as its own seperate word then mash them together to make the word.

But I'm glad you pronounce it the way I do (the right way). And if anyone else tells you otherwise, they are wrong.

The correct way to pronounce it is:
Man-ga (Ma-n-ga), thats how the japanese characters work out. Lots of people do call it mang-ga though, I do when i'm lazy.
