From playing games does your thumbs literally get tired?
It happens to me often that my thumbs get tired. Maybe because I have stubby fingers. Don't know. I don't quite know if it happens to others. That's the reason why I hardly go and play on the console at home I have. I usually just watch others play. Can you somehow train your fingers like you train your legs by running a marathon? I wonder. When this happens, I just take a 15 minute break and get back to playing. Maybe it's just me. Does it happen to any of you guys and girls? ~ >.<
When I play, my thumbs get tired...and my wrists burn...and my hands cramp...I have carpaltunnel. So, when feel that way (which comes from gaming and writing stories on my computer) I take 30 minutes to an hour break or more depending how bad the carpaltunnel is.
Carpal Tunnel. Sure hope I don't develop that from my excessive game playing and computer usage. Playing games for a long time will probably make your thumbs tired, since that's basically all that you're moving on your hand. It's probably worse when you have to play a game that needs you to basically mash on the buttons. Not only that, your thumbs will sometimes be irritated and have a burning feeling if you rub it around the buttons too much, mainly the D-pad. This occurs a lot in fighting games, when you're continuosly doing "quarter-circles" and stuff like that on the D-pad.

I mostly plays with keybord and mouse; so i don't know but do musculation with your hands to reinforce your fingers; may be it helps ...

Only time I get sore fingers are those games that requir rapid button pressing. Sport games are very draining

all gamers know how much punishment they can take b4 calling it a day.
but somtimes its just one of those times when your like "GODDAMMIT you FREKO AI BASTARD" and you press on or when your up against a friend. thats when i get tired thumb and wrist.
all it takes is a lil cold drink break, 5 mins walking outside or somthin and bak to normal.
go hard but know when to stop LOL

Looks like i'm in the same situation as you are, keyboard, mouse and somtimes joystick. Its best to rest your thumbs and fingers between every hour or 2 hours of play. Not only your thumbs needs resting but your eyes, arms and sometimes your back, depending on how you sit.
Majority of times after long hours of play, i general walk around my house to get back my normal rhythem and to reduce the risk of RSI (Repetive Strain Injury).
My thumbs get tired but thats after a LONG day of gaming, I think they've gotten pretty strong now so I can keep gaming for hours. But for PC games and using a mouse, sometimes my wrist really starts to ache. I never play on PC games thats probably why. I just suck at PC games =P

I think the only time I made my fingers so tired and sore was back on the Nintendo 64 when I had gotten Super Mario 64, Legend of Zelda: OOT, and GoldenEye 007 for a christmas present. I spent about 3 days of playing games for about 12+ hours a day. After that I had gotten bruises on the thumbs making it very difficult to play afterwards. I havnt really played a game for more then 5 hours straite since then. And in the past 4 or 5 years I played the games on and off. But I have yet to make my fingers tired or sore since then.
My thumbs don't get tired, as they get sore. When I take a long break from 2D fighter games (SF, KOF, GG, etc.) my thumb isn't what it used to be. After 1/2 hour to hour my thumbs start hurting, that's when I decide to go out and do something else. Then my thumbs go back to normal.

My thumbs can get sore if I play for a really long time (like maybe over 3 or 4 hours at once) but usually it's my entire hand that cramps. Usually it doesn't even happen right away. I'll wake up the next morning and find that I can't open and close my hand without it hurting. All my fingers (minus my thumbs, ironically enough) really get sore when I type for long periods of time though. I hpoe I won't get carpal tunnel... It'd suck to be unable to play games or use my laptop well.
