This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.

While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

Hi. I know there's a thread about The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya already, but I just wanna make this thread about episode 14. Alright getting to the point.

So, what did everyone think of episode 14? I was just suprised to see that this is the last episode. All in all, it was really satisfying and definitley great. Too bad the series is only 14 episodes long. I just wish it was longer like most animes. So, what do you think is gonna happen with haruhi and kyon? It would be great to see another season with haurhi and kyon together(90% most like gonna happen) 1-2 years later. It would be great to hear others opinion if they want another season of The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya and with ideas as well. ^_^

Yeah, the supposed last episode of The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya is really chronologically episode 6. So it really wasn't the last chronological episode. Episode 14 was aired as episode 9 which was the real final moments of the series, hence a.f.k. put that picture of Haruhi with her tounge out at the end of the last aired episode, since that was really the last scene with Haruhi.

Because of this I thought that the ending (Aired as ep. 14, but chronologically ep. 6) was good. It's just that when you think about, when Kyon says he's going to tell Haruhi everything at the ending of the episode, we all know that, that was total BS since in the latter episodes she still doesn't know that aliens, time travellers and espers exist.

Now the number one reason why I want to see a second episode is because, since Haruhi's and Kyon's relationship seem to reach a climax in that dream sequence (remember this is episode 6), their relationship seems to go back to normal (or the way it was before the dream) in the latter episodes (7-14). So, nothing really develops from this climax though the ending of the last aired episode (chronologically ep. 6) makes you believe otherwise. So I want to see a second season to see how they're relationship evolves more so then just how it was at the end of ep. 9 (chronologically ep. 14, the last episode).

P.S. Does anybody know the name of that piano instrumental that a.f.k. played at the ending of series, the one with the picture of Haruhi sticking her tounge out? If you do, please contact me via my profile comments.

I just saw the last episode, or should I say sixth, several hours ago. All in all, it was a very good series, but there were still some stuff left un-answered. And it didn't seem like Kyon told her everything about the aliens, time-travelers and Espers. But oh well, it was a good watch.

Thats more of a reason a 2nd season should come out =)
Anyways I really loved the episode. I especially liked the little Kyon x Mikuru in it.
The soundtrack also rocked especially in the scenes with the blue giant.
It was a solid possible ending for the series.

Actually, if you read the novels Kyon does tell her, but she flatly refuses to believe it. 6 months later she remembers it which is what gives her the idea for the indie movie "Asahina Mikuru's Adventure" (and hence why all the characters are so close to their real identity). If you want to read the novels then Baka-Tsuki are translating them here. Only 3 of the novels were covered in the anime (out of 8 so far) so there is plenty of material left for the future.

As for this episode, it was a great end to a great series and I'll be sorry to see it go. It would be good if they did make a second season, but even if they don't I'd still be happy with what they've given us already. My favourite moments from the last episode were obviously Yuki's library line, as well as Kyon thinking about all the outfits Mikuru should wear next =).

I still have to watch the episode in chronological order,but my computer broke, so I lost it all-_-.... Anyway i'm hoping for second season, and I was left with a question, what happened to the cat that talks, he was on episode 0, the movie episode. I was hoping for a explanation of him, anyways can't wait for the 2nd season, if there is one.

Haha so was I, it confused me so much the first time I saw it. Again, this is another thing which gets explained in the novels (although I haven't gotten that far yet). As far as I can tell the cat does actually speak, but later stops and so becomes Kyon's sister's pet.

I want to see a second season so bad, if it kills me.
Is there any hints or rumors of one being made or what?
Also can anybody tell me if the mangas have more material NOT showed in the anime? I want to dig further into this anime :(~!

Dude, the info was flat out said that the manga contains more. I'm getting sick of people not reading the material, but especially ones who post a question already answered a post or two above theirs.

READ then POST. Not the opposite, and especially not only the later without the first.

Alas, I too thought I stated it pretty clearly. Just to clear things up a bit, there are two versions of Melancholy manga about - one of which has since been cancelled, and the other which is currently running in Japanese magazines (I think it's titled Sneaker). The manga isn't that highly rated, but the novels (i.e. written books, not manga) are very good and won the Taisho prize for new writers. Manga scanlations can be found over at Manga News, but I highly recommend reading the novels instead (or at least as well).

Welcome to the internet. You'll find common sense lacks and sloth common in your travels through the realm. Best not to get worked up about it because people will not learn and will always fail to read whatever is directly in front of them.

About the cat, it Yuki clearly states inside the movie that it was ventriloquism.

I would like to disagree with people wo said that after episode 14 (chronological 6) the romance vanishes. MoHS romance is all about subtleness, and Haruhi is not of the character that would clearly state what she fells. However, note that in future (chronological) episodes, she no longer drags Kyon by his tie, but actually holds his hands. She also never think of putting him on the bet for the computer society on chronological episode 13. There are also very clear subtle romance going on at the end of the baseball game (chronological episode 7), and you cannot deny they are indeed close at the island event (chronological 9~10). At chronological episode 12 she is clearly psycologically dependent on Kyon as she asks him to go with her when the music girls come to thank her, and I don't have to tell you about all the jealousy and cute subtle romance of chronological episode 14 (aired 9).

The romance only improves from episode 14 (chrono 6) ^^v

In case you like it, here is the chronological list of episodes (air number = chrono number)

2=1
3=2 (PC + flyers = 1 week after start of term)
5=3 (Nagato and Koizumi revelations)
10=4 (nagato fights Asakura / future Asahina comes)
13=5 (searching Asakura / Koizumi shows closed space)
14=6 ("end")
4=7 baseball
7=8 (after Tanabata (7 july) - closed space at computing club president home
6=9 (after black monday - test results) - island 1
8=10 - island 2
1= 11 movie trial just before cultural fest
12=12 cultural fest - suzumiya sings
11=13 (a few days after the festival - the computer game)
9=14 (december draws near - half year after start - actuall ending)

Actually, that makes more sense than what happened in the anime. In the anime, the DVD comes across as a case of terminally strong irony. Technically, Koizumi already told Kyon that she wouldn't believe it so it shouldn't come as a surprise that she dismissed Kyon's story.

I actually have been reading the novel translations too to try and follow along. As far as I can tell Haruhi and Kyon have some kind of twisty Mulder and Scully thing goin' on. That is, if Mulder was hyperactive instead of sullen.

Personally I really hope there's more Suzumiya anime to come.
