Hey guys, i started this topic so i can get the opinions of as many people as possible about the possible potential of the ps3 or if its a bad system, the reasons for it being bad
see, i own a 360 right now, and before that i've had just about every nintendo and sony system, so i've been around the block, but i hear so many people sayin how this system is terrible, and equal amounts of people saying its amazing
by sometime late this year, maybe for xmas, or early 2008, i wouldnt mind buying a ps3 but i wanna know if its worth it, yea alot of the games seem to be but if the system isnt worth its money no point you kno, so guys if you have a moment i'd love to hear some of you opinions on the ps3 and maybe some ps3 owners could give there 2 cents

I got a Playstation 3 last Christmas, and so far, I've barely played it at all. Personally I don't like any of the games out for it yet... I think Sony is really choking themselves with the limited selection.
But as far as the graphics go, they're pretty nice -- nothing to really rave about though. And being a fan of the Playstation 2, I was a bit disappointed that the PS3 either didn't play some of the PS2 games at all, or the graphics were distorted.

atm, the bigist problem is the price. but, people who claim its cheap are looking for a blue ray disk player. not a gaming console.
ive not paid too close attention, but, id say there arent any games out yet that are too interesting.
I suggest wait for better timing, we don't know how good is PS3 if the game selection still limited. it's just a matter of time (about 2 year) till wide selection of PS3 game available then at that time decide if it's worth to buy or not
Give it some time, guys. Consoles usually have a life-span of 5-6 years. This is only one year in. It's too soon to say either of the 3 current consoles are destined to fail. In all fairness, the PS3 probably has the longest survivability. We know games 4-5 years from now are going to be way different. A lot of aspects will get kicked up a notch or two, foremost probably being graphics. From that angle, the console most likely to continue to be able to handle the games our kids will play is Sony's pricey black box. Afterall, a console's real value is in the games it can handle/support. I'm sure it will also cost quite a bit less by then too.

Ditto - meh, so far there aren't enough good games for it. i don't have one personally, as i would have to sell my soul for one on ebay...and that's on a discount lol............nothing super great about it yet. will have to wait and see

Damn and the ps3 is released for a month ore sompt, damn you sony! no ps3 here is still the most expensive and stuff. and i dont care much about consoles, wouldnt have the time to play on them i prefer a pc then.

Hmm, yea i decided ill wait till late next year or somethin till i consider picking a ps3, it is much to soon and the game selection is very low, newho thanks alot for all your comments, if neone else would like to add somethin feel free:)

I'll admit, the PS3 started out pretty weak and wasn't at the top when it released. However, the PS3's future looks very, very, promising, and exciting. There are going to be a lot of new games, many of which are highly anticipated (Ninja Gaiden Sigma, MGS:4, KH3, FFXi...). The Playstation EYE HD looks pretty awesome, and the free "Playstation H.O.M.E" is really neat I think. And a price drop could be in the future too, so i think sony's pretty safe.

As of right now... I believe the only Playstation 3 exclusive title that is worth buying is Resistances: Fall of Man. Other than that there isn't really anything good out there. So far I've only purchased 2 games for the PS3 and they were on the Playstation Store. Tekken: DR and Flow. Also games that hit all three consoles were better on the Xbox 360 because the graphics are slightly better and the developers worked out most of the bugs. So the games performed better on the 360. We'll just have to wait till the end of this year to see if Sony could turn things around. Like dropping the price and having better games come out.

Actually... The Playstation 3 is only $600 (thats the 60 gig HDD version, and there's a 20gig for $500). And the games are the same price as Xbox 360 games, which is $59.99, not $100.

The ps3 nearly choked at launch, but they're getting better. Still no real library to speak of. Resistance is it's best game, but it's a straight up shooter with nothing really new.
the firmware updates are really helping the system out, i think.
i would wait until there are at least two games that you feel you must own that are exclusives. and hopefully you have an HD screen so that you can actually enjoy all the horsepower.
Don't wait for a price drop this year, because no console ever drops their price after being out for only 1 year.
And whoever wrote all the gibberish about consoles handling games have it backwards. developers do not write a game and expect consoles to "keep up." they write specifically for that platform.

If i had a choice to get a Wii and a 360 or a PS3 id pick 2 consoles over 1...
ps3 is just way too expensive for what its worth, plus its online capabilities suck horribly, at least until their xbox live rip off "home" comes out.

PS2 nice BUT PS3 is GREAT! i have one :)
