Here's my first version, the background is a heavily modded photo of downtown Bangkok at night. The background photo has been recolored and smart-blurred to take most of the 'photo' look away.

I love the background, it matches the image very well. Also, you did a good job cutting out the scan -- I see next to no areas were it could be done better. The background is a tiny bit busy, my attention falls to the red before it does to the charactor -- I'm not sure if thats on purpose.

The wallpaper is fine...and so is the character......Try the backgrounds not too very reddish..... ok......

i think that the problem here is that the scan is out of focus... when i first look at this wall i couldn't find the scan... i think i gets lost on the messyness of the background...
i would try black and white colors for your background and see what you can get... you have to earn focus on the character...
ohhh and nice text! it looks nice... and i think it matches well with your wall's design..

OK, here we go some edits.
I got rid of the motion blur because I realized it didn't really make sense photographically (not that this one makes any more sense, but hey).
I added some 'vapor' like trails to show movement also it has the benefit of making her stand out more and your eye draws to her a bit more now.
