This wallpaper gives us a perfect example of how a simple manga scan can be turned into a beautiful vector. Not only did danalm trace the lineart, but he also added amazing details and a simple, yet wonderful background. Furthermore, the wallpaper shows us how the monochromatic style can make your work look really interesting.

Yeah, vectoring rules. But , in my opinion, it's hard to learn.

Long time since i lost done a wallpaper (2 years in fact! 8)E emoticon), but i have plenty of time after work, I guess i'll put it to go use..

this is char from Gundam, one of the oldest character of the series.
he has been taken out of a screenshot off the Gundam Mahjong Game in DS (awhile ago, no surprise if no one heard of the game).

- I have re-vectored him, and slap him onto a bold-ish background.
- The colour scheme is not final, I was hoping I can have the whole thing pink-ish, to go inline with his Red Comet.
- I am also thinking may be the wall would only have a selection of pink, red, brown, magenta and nothing else. (need to find out how to form a proper colour palette in Illustrator, any tips are much appreciated)
- The background may be imprinted with the Red Comet outline or even a haro.
- that's it for now.

things to consider:
- re-colour it to the pink scheme as mentioned above
- add red comet to the back behind char

please put forward your comment and thoughts,
thanks for reading =)

An obvious point to mention would be make sure to conform to resolution and signature requirements.

Sorry, i was expecting a bit more technical advice../(oOo)#

this is a vector, it can be resize to pretty much any resolution, and signature is probably the last thing on my mind until I sort out the colour scheme.

thanks for the remainder none the less.

The vector should be a little more clean. The lines are all jaggy and if you go for outlines you should add them on everything and not just on some parts.

The outlines are too thin and really jaggy and try to make them all the same color or at least to use similar colors... Around the head you have brown outlines and in the mouth they are black and on the hat they are grey... Try to keep colored outlines or only black but don't mix the two that way.

You should add some more shading and some light textures cause you're character looks a little plain right now. The color of the shadow on his face is too orange. You should change it to something more dark pink. Normally to choose the color for a shadow on something , you take the original color of the thing and then you make it darker in the color palette... But you don't make it more orange or what so ever.

The mouth contains only one color but normally the bottom part in a mouth is the tongue and the rest is the side parts of the mouth so the sides should be darker.

Note : you don't need to add a outline in the background to show the difference between the wall and the floor. The difference of the color is already pretty obvious.

Hope this helps.

Good luck
