After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

I really want to learn nihongo for several reasons...
1. I think it's a beautiful language ^^
2. I would be able to talk with some japanese people better (like my grandparents XD)
3. I would read lots of manga
4. I'd watch lots of anime and jdoramas with no subtitles \o/

I study Japanese because it's an awesome language.
I'm very interested in languages, so learning an extra one is always good.
I guess it is J-pop, manga and anime that motivated me to learn it in the beginning, but I really enjoy it, so that's why I continue^_^

I've begun to learn japanese before being really into anime/manga. i like japanese culture since child. the japanese language has particular rhythm and sonority which attract me.
sadly i couldn't learn it in classes (no time no money) so i try to manage by myself.

I don't mean to sound pessimistic or anything but most otaku or self-proclaimed otaku who want to learn Japanese never reach semi-fluency. Wanting to learn the language for the purpose of only watching anime and/or read manga is weak. In order to even get perhaps 50% of what they are saying you would probably have to spend at least 2 years studying. And even then, knowing only what they are saying half the time isn't worth it either.

So, if you are truly serious about learning Japanese, more power to you. Otherwise, don't bother. Nothing's more disturbing/funny than an otaku giving up halfway into Japanese 102. I've seen it happen before.

Anyways, I started to learn Japanese because I like to learn languages. My interest in the language WAS reinforced by anime and manga but I grew out of that and really wish to acquire fluency. Even though I don't get much practice since there's hardly any Japanese people where I live, I think at one point in my life, I will have to use it extensively. Besides, I don't like learning things halfway and just leaving that as that.

I wanted to learn Japanese for that Purpose, too... because of Anime and Manga. Lessons were once a week at an Evening School. I spent two years there, only to find out, it's very hard to keep you motivated to learn Japanese, since it is only.... ONCE A WEEK... So I quit after 2 years, because once in a week Japanese Courses are Crap, if you don't have lessons every day. The Motivation will disappear if you don't have lessons frequently,... understand what I mean...
So next time, I learn Japanese, I'm gonna make sure I'll find a course that will have daily lessons for at least 6 hours per day. And not only for my main hobbies, but for the love of the language and the culture, too...

Languages in general should be learnt on a daily basis, otherwise ... FORGET IT!!

It's soo funny when hardcore otakus drop out of Japanese. I took a semester of Japanese and people just started dropping left and right. Most of the people in my class are taking it because they want to watch anime and understand it without having to read the subtitles. There was only maybe 1 or 2 people in the class out of 50 who didn't watch anime. They were taking the class because they wanted to become Japanese teachers.
