I haven't read the manga, but I just loooveeeeee the anime. It's very very very very x100 funny. It's a pretty novel idea that I haven't ever heard of before. I want to read the manga! =D I hope the series will be long. Like 26 episodes instead of 13.
Eh? Ouran will have only 13 episodes? I thought they'll be having like 26 Episode...
But so far the progress' been good. Though I may disagree with few people who

I accidentially read the 1st 2 chapters in the magazine ages ago. and i did like it. but at that time, it was published at a very low speed. so i decided to wait for it until it had enough to get me going in one row.
I love this series so far! Everything about it is so bright and cute. I really enjoy reading the manga so I'm glad they did a great job on the anime. Too bad it's only going to be 13 episodes. Btw, Tamaki by far is my favourite character - he's so dense about everything!
From an earlier post, blizarre, gotta agree with you, Hana-Yori Dango is definitely different from Ouran. C'mon, art-wise, Ouran beats it by a milestone. Hana Yori Dango is pretty plain but easy to catch up with while Ouran kinda has too much stuff going on in the background, yet it makes the manga really gorgeous and completely shows the true artistic talents of Bisco Hatori. Now leading characters, Tsukushi (I think that's her name, right? From what I remember..) anyway, she's pretty headstrong and determined while Haruhi is just adorably oblivious to everything and doesn't give a damn about anything else as long as she pays off that debt real soon... This makes it even funnier. I enjoy Ouran more though. Haruhi is just one of a kind. Now I kinda do see the similarities with the F-Four and the Host Club, being that they're a group of guys that are rich and gorgeous (I kinda doubt that in the F-Four ^^). And the rich guy(s) wind up liking the poor, oblivious girl. But both stories are really CUTE.
But anyways, I do see it differently from Hana Yori Dango.
It may be true that the host club people may seems similar to the F4,
but in this case, they actually do not treat the protagonist the way they
did in HYD. Also, the story plot is definitely different from HYD.
I'm totally against people who thought it is similar. Ouran has a
lighter story plot and HYD is simply plain serious. Maybe it does
have some light stories, but still.

Ouran High school host club, second to The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi in my opinion of the new season. Although both female leads have the name Haruhi. Coincidence? Eh, whatever. Ouran High school host club is definitely a comedy people should watch this season, a girl mistaken for a guy and then turned into a host gentlemen entertainer for teenage girls who can't tell shes a woman? Who wouldn't laugh at that. The whole part about oweing money for a broken vase and having to work it off reminds me of He is My Master too much.
I really like Ouran High School Host Club!! At first I didn't pay any attentions to it because of my upcoming exams and I needed to revise. Due to getting bored of revising, I watched the first episode and I love it!! I couldn't stop watching! I'm now reading the manga version aswell... hehee... All the characters there are just too funny, and I love the twins... and don't forget Haruhi! ^__^
I love this anime ^^ i think, this one of the funniest animes i've seen in my life =]] characters are so cuuutee, i love this animes boys ^___^" kyaa! waiting for the next ep ^^
I don't think that Ouran is similar to Hana Yori Dango. Only in that case, that Tsukushi and Haruhi are the only odd-one-outs in a rich elegant school [because they're poor] and both of them are sorrounded with rich, good-looking boys. That's all.

Oh I read the manga and watch the anime, it was funny ^^
Gosh lately I've been watching some sad and depressing anime, take Blood+ for an example. Hence I went around to look for something light-hearted that doesn't have any killing for a change. Finally I come upon this one!
I started watching it on YOUTUBE and at first thought it was a bit weird... Like is this going to be a gay anime? You know, promote the freedom of homosexuality. I find it perfectly fine if they did something meaningful and different for a change?
However later on I found out it wasn't hahaha and I mentally slapped myself for even thinking about the prior thoughts! Nevertheless I totally enjoy this anime and looking forward to getting more of it in the near future!

Ouran's gonna be 26 episodes ^^ Or at least that's what it says in Anidb :P I want more! Haha. I read only a few chapters of the manga, since I didn't wanna spoil the anime too much (I know, topsy turvy) but I love both of them :D The twins are hotter in the anime though ;) They look a bit...weird in the manga, but I think the mangaka got more experienced and they're starting to look better now :D
I KNEW it wasn't yaoi when I first started watching it, but Haruhi looked so much like a guy that I thought I was mistaken, haha :P Ah well...its now one of my FAVORITE animes this season :D
Now to wait for honey and clover 2...

I just started watching this anime 2 days ago and i find it really good... I love all the comedies...
I have read about the sypnosys of manga in the magazine last year.. The sypnosys attracted me right away... but too bad, there aren't any manga of Ouran in my place here *running away in teary eyes and running nose*
But i was very happy when i knew it had been converted into anime...
The first few episodes was quite interesting and right away it caught my attention...
And i could recognise the seiyuu of Honey-kun is actually the same as Momiji in Fruits Basket.. Furuba is my most favorable anime too... But is it going to be 13 or 26 episodes only?? I wish there are more than that... I was quite dissapointed to hear that this anime was quite short.. actually i was hoping that it'll be like 49 episodes or longer... This is a great anime so i really hope they won't end it real fast...
And i find Haruhi and Tamaki made a nice pairing too... I love all the host members.. They are really my bishounen type... I really hope they are going to sell the manga at my place cause i'll DEFINITELY buy them^^

This has been quite an entertaining thread so far. If I hadn't already been reading the manga of this series after being compared to so many of the great manga/anime series out there like Fruits Basket and HYD I would definitely be interested in it. I don't think I've seen one series compared with so many other since well... umm never.
But I have to agree with everyone else here other then the setting (rich Private High School) and the main characters background (middle/lower) there are almost no similarity between the two series of HYD and Ouran. In fact if that's the only similarities used to compare series then I could compare Perfect Girl Evolution guys with the Host Club, I don't know why I would do that but it's there. Or Hana Kimi and Power! for the crossdressing heroine, however Haru lacks the gender identification which creates serious angst in those stories. Which means that even though I've compared all these series Ouran is pure comedy that lacks the serious elements that appears in all of those series.
The moral of this post is: we all need a cross-dressing father who works in a gay bar to relieve of us of any attachment to our current gender association - just joking.
