The title says it all. Anyways, I think it's too plain, and the second girl's dress is uneven at the bottom. Any suggestions?
Hmm. the obvious problem I see is your character extraction - pretty horrid. Did you use just use the magic wand? Take your time, use the pen tool, lasso, whatever you want, but do it properly. You're on the right track with the background, but it seems too far away from the characters and its overly blurred. Keeping focus on the foreground characters doesn't mean you have to lose background detail. Text is pretty plain, spice that up a bit. Good start. *thumbs up*

It is too plain, and the image extraction isn't the best (can still see white pixils)

As they said the character extraction could have been better :) Some pieces of hair is almost cut off xD

Try to add more than the blur filter in the background. My recent wallpaper got knocked because I did something of the like. Like everyone said, take your time when extracting the scan. Zoom in real close and extract it perfectly :P. Good start though
Great idea! Work on extration. For the bg, I really like it, but like others have said, it's seems too blurry, or far away. Try to make it less blurry, and add some filter if you have to to get the characters to stand out, while you can still make out the bg. Good luck!

I agree, the text also doesn't fit imho... It looks to me that they're decked out for a festival at the shrine, scoop some goldfish, watch taiko drummers and see the fireworks, that kinda thing.
