This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.

While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

I absolutely adore music but im getting sick of unoriginal metal/rap/hip-hop takeing over, all you ever here is "i love slipknot' or "rap is god" im absolutely fed up with it, i cant listern to the radio with out hearing some crap come on, some weird hip-hop artist absolutely DESTROYED soft cells tainted love song with a remix called s.o.s GAAH, i used to be a metal addict, disturbed and superhist was all that i listened to, i was so captivated by this one genre that i dismissed all other music, when i changed schools i made a friend who was a music addict and he got me into other music, it is awsom, bands like lior, placebo, muse, josh pyke, bloc party, paul mac and, the best ben folds five are now my favourite bands. i want your oppinion on music, if your sick of metal rap and all that guff, please tell me ^_^

I almost feel obligated to reply to this now. For your other topic... Muse kinda reminds me of Radiohead, though perhaps a darker, more heavy/alternative sound to them. I've heard a few songs by them that interested me, but I've never really pursued it, for some reason.

Anyway, back on topic. Yeah, most of the stuff you hear on the radio (in the 'States, at least) is uninspired, shallow glam-rock/rap garbage, though I suppose that's due to the fact that a lot of people don't look for challenging or thought-provoking music - they look for something that has a catchy hook to it. I never listen to what other people want to listen to while I'm in my car, and at first they're like "what the hell is this crap?" but if they're exposed to it for a while, sometimes they'll eventually inquire as to what it is. Just goes to show how unwilling some people are to try music that isn't immediately easily accessible. I was actually going to start a topic on "gateway" bands, but... eh. I'm lazy.

I'm in Australia and I'll have to agree with you when you say that most music on the radio is quite bad.

I was never really into metal + all of its subdivisions, and rap...well, it depends on what you're talking about here. I actually think Hip-Hop (like Kanye and others -- Arrested Development!) is quite good. Do most people consider Hip-Hop as a seperate genre to Rap?

I like all sorts of stuff; currently some rock from the likes of Powderfinger and Matchbox 20, Fink for Jamiroquai and Alternative from the Gorillaz.

Actually. Popele listen to and buy whatever is played on the radio. Simple as that, and since the radio sucks, most people listen to crappy music.

Incidently Orchid, did you ever get any decent recs out of that topic you made a while back?

Some college stations are okay ... well during the summer when collge isn't in session. Two years ago some metalheads must have taken over one station during the summer because it was like a 30% metalfest. The rest was regge and "alternative" but I'll listen to that stuff too.

Well yeah, but college stations make up a small portion of radio air space. Almost all popular radio stations are owned by a few big lable record companies (eg: Sony, Disney, Capitol, etc..). And these stations play the songs that their mother company tells them to play in order to generate sales for their mother company.

Not really.

Though, a similar topic at a board in which the average poster age was a bit higher proved considerably more informative. :P

XD Yeah. I've only just yesterday started posting here again. Found another board with the average poster closer to 20 than 12.

I enjoy a bunch of different types of rock music but I perfer bands that don't get radio attention for the same reason as you guys, I feel that the new rock that comes on the radio is heartless. I don't want to get too deep into what I think here because on another topic I've ranted and raved too much already. Simply put, I'm fed up too, rock and roll needs a facelift and new direction.

I like Metal. I love Metal. But there's only specific Metal bands I enjoy, and they're not played on any radio. Bands like Killswitch Engage (the old, with Jesse as the lead singer) and Trivium. In Flames too. Bands with great choruses that sound really melodic. Powermetal and the such too, stuff with feeling that you can get into.

The only thing that plays on the radio anymore is unintelligent, crappy Rap and a bunch of 20-something Rock singers who sound way more pop that rock. So popular, yet sucks so bad..

Thrash Metal is horrible too..

It's not genres as a whole though, it's just that all the genres are really run over with really crappy stuff.

Heh. Some rap and metal is good, but yeah, I've been sick of it. Perhaps you may like some that are not mainstream (they do have a different sound).

But personally, I listen to lots of types, and if I love it, I will always listen to it. That includes some old-school as well. Earth, Wind, and Fire, anyone?

Good music never gets old.

Yay i never really liked rap but its been getting worse and worse with just about all of it sounding the same now and i couldnt tell you 1 rapper from the next. My favorite bands include "System of a down" i mean jeez no one dares make music the way they do its so original! and also Blind Guardian. "nightfall in middle earth" is one hell on an inspiring album if your drawing

I agree with a lot thats been said. I am also in Australia and find the whole new Rap and RnB scene rubbish. Some of it has its perks as driving music and stuff but yeah. I find that Muse are good but prefer Radiohead more, Muse start to sound the same after a while and can start to irritate you when a collegue learns it on Piano and plays it 24 7, badly( happened with coldplay too). I'm into loads of types of music not enough to list. Currently in a J-rock phase with artists like Dir en grey. I turn to that for originality and individuality rather then a bunch of people who ruin great songs of the 80's to today. I've heard that s.o.s. song on a Jamster ad and in my opinion anything that Makes it to a Jamster ad is taboo. I'm a metal fan too and rock as well (was Regurgitator obsessed and still am to an extent). So yeah new music is completely unoriginal but I guess you need some kind of influence. to the first poster Josh, So you like Ben Folds Five. I've got tickets to see Ben Folds with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra! Hell pumped.
