Rurouni Kenshin Manga
I have wanted to buy the Rurouni Kenshin manga for ages, but I could not decide whether to buy the anime or the manga as I only have money for one...
Is the story in the anime very different from the manga? And where does the manga actually end?
Then, the OVA's of Rurouni Kenshin...are they in any way related to the manga?
Pls tell me...and thanks

Yes the OVA is covered in the manga in my opinion the manga is much better then the show, the anime is diferent in the final arc
I recommend the manga. Definitely..
Basically, the anime differs from the manga after the Kyoto arc(the fight with Shishio). The manga has a Revenge arc, which details the past of Kenshin, and why he becomes the way he is in the manga.. This isn't covered in the anime, which brings in the topic of the OVA. The first 4 OVAs esplore Kenshin's past, and the final 2 OVAs cover a little on the Revenge arc(to be precise, the 5th OVA)..
So there you have a little bit of info on RK.. hope it's enough to distinguish between the anime, manga, and OVA.. Well, like I suggested earlier.. buy the manga!

Manga is better than the anime.
The anime doesn't cover the whole Revenge Arc. So you won't get to see the real ending of RK.
One particular good thing about the anime though, is seeing Kenshin going "oro". ^^

The manga has the revenge arc where it is not covered in the anime. It is the most important part where Kenshin's and some of Sanosuke's past are covered. you can also find 1 more Hiten Mitserugi technique which weren't shown in the anime. My advice is go for the MANGA. The when you got the cash again sometime, watch the anime.

It is very good manga, is my favorite history.
Kenshin is a special character of the manga Rurouni Kenshin. His life changed dramatically after the reform. He went from being a battousai- meaning the killer to being a wanderer. The main reason of it is because he just want to repay what he has done. And because of he accidentally killed his wife, being a wanderer, Kenshin always helps the poor. And the working classes against those who used violent on them going back to his childhood. His whole family was killed he was saved and taught martial arts by his masterhe thought that his skill can be useful for the reformso he became the best assasinator back then eventually, he met Tomoe the girl that engaged to the man he killed and eventually became his wife ...

The anime is nothing but crap , but the OVA is worth watching , it's about the memory of Kenshin .
And btw , why should you waste money on A-M when they are free via internet

maybe its because some people dont like to cheat the creator of the series
Oh...I'm not such a noble person...>.<...It's just that i have a very slow internet connection, and it's the dialup kind, which means that every second is money...=.=
That's why I had to buy anime if I want to watch the complete series...
however, considering what everybody said, i would buy the RK manga...thanks for your advice!

Rurouni Kenshin is so far the best manga I have read so far, it have really good story, good art-work, excellent charchters and it is in old Japan! I just love the era then they used sword (katanas) and have a very, very good story, just like Rurouni Kenshin. But the anime is not as good as the anime, okay it is pretty good. But not as good as the anime, it have to much fillers. Wich I hate very much, and they don't even have the Jinchu part. Only in the X Samurai, but it is still not as great as the manga....
Rurouni Kenshin is Masterpiece of Anime and Manga in depth of each main Character... And as I said many many times,... The story emphazies the point of view of the "so called" villains like Shishio Makoto, Aoshi Shinomori, Seta Sojiro. We learn a lot about their past and especially the reasons why they became what they are today and we learn about,... why they have their believes and stick to them, WHY those vicious Characters try to bring through their believe not matter the cost.
The viewer who is competent with Anime-Culture and viewers who don't necessarily need an understanding of Anime-Culture, when those pay close attention, they are indirectly and without further notice confronted with the questions:
Is that Villain really Evil because he is Evil,... or is it rather the belief makes this villain evil??
Is there any right or wrong in either Kenshin's principles or in Shishio's principles?
