Do you read the manga before watching the anime?
If you heard about a new anime, do you read its manga first to learn more about it or you just go to an anime reviews site and read about it and see some pictures or may be download the first episode and test it?..
I generally check the new anime that goes out this year, check some pics and download the two first episode to see if I'll like it ^_^
Sometimes it happen that I'm reading the manga when the anime goes out ^_^ It happen with Black cat ^_^
Generally I read the manga after I saw an anime ^_^

It's depends on the case. Sometimes yes, sometimes no.
For Black Cat, I read a large part of the manga before the anime comes available but for moon phase, I didn't read it. I just watched the anime (wich is great by the way).
I usually watch the anime first... specially because it's easier to know a concept in that way. If I liked the show, then I try to get the manga (if it exists :P).
For example, I was interested in the Yugioh concept since it existed (let's say... since 1998, more or less). I watched some episodes from the internet and I loved it... but I felt incredibly dissapointed after seeing the 4Kids version. I don't mind the americanized names, I don't mind the CG effects, and I honestly didn't mind about the changed cards... BUT DAMNIT! Why did they have to cut all the 1st part of the show?! I could hardly understand what's going on.
After some time, I bought the Yugi manga, and I adored it (and I definitely liked those sick-ass Shadow Games).
Another case: Ai Yori Aoshi. Though that show is still one of my most favorite animes of all times, I would honestly choose the manga. It has more events, more explicit (lol), and we see a deeper relationship between Kaoru and Aoi.
Cases where I first read the manga and I watched the anime after that:
-Rurouni Kenshin (my... what a dissapointment I had after watching the anime).
-Video Girl Ai (well, that thing was officially released around here and it's now a classic in Mexico ^_^ The anime was OK, but the last part was incredibly "WTF").

For me, anime and manga is very different thing to me. I don't want to relate manga and anime too much. Even if i read manga, it doesn't mean i will watch the anime. Same with anime. Only sometimes when the manga or anime is too good that i cannot satisfy myself then i'll go watch or read the manga.
Hmm i usually start watchin anime, and when i get to the last episodes and i have to wait a week or two for the next one, i jump to manga and read it from start, to entertain myself a bit ^_^ and usually to read the episodes that will follow, due to the fact manga usually has more episodes :)
Eh, it really doesn't matter to me. I usually end up watching the anime first, really getting interested, then wanting to get more out of the story so I purchase the manga. ^^
Then again I buy a TON more manga than I do anime...I must have 70 manga books/volumes or so floating around my house... O_o Most of it, there's no anime version (like Alice 19th or Mars.)
In some cases, I liked the anime version better.
I watched the anime for Princess Tutu, and fell in love with it...but when I bought the manga I couldn't believe I wasted the money on it. >.o I will definitely stick to the anime for that series.

I agree with Alucard24, it just depends on the case. I watched about half of Bleach before reading the manga and I've kept myself up to date on the manga ever since. I read all of Trigun before watching the anime and the mange keeps going after the anime ends which kind of made me mad.
There have been some times when I've read the manga before watching the anime, but usually it's the other way around. That probably just stems from the fact that I watch more anime in general. The most recent exception for me is Azumanga Daioh; I read all four volumes of the manga before even thinking about starting in on the anime. Most of the time, though, my manga reading tends to consist of either material that has never been animated or material that I saw as anime first & loved so much that I just had to check out the manga version... e.g. Fruits Basket, Hunter x Hunter, Hikaru no Go, Gravitation, etc.

Normally i find manga through anime and read it after watching the show. An exception was Saiyuki where I loved the manga so much that I had to get the anime. As for choosing the shows I watch I tend to take a look at a synopsis of each series, and the websites. If it looks worthwhile and something that i might like I watch it.
Recently I have been taking more of a risk on shows I don't know much about, since my internet access has increased! :D I've dled a couple of episodes of most of the new series out this season.
I have to confess that I am a bit too scared to get into manga first... the sheer number of different stories and the number of volumes makes finding and getting those I enjoy is... hard!

There has only been a few anime where ive read the manga first. One of the prime examples is Bleach
It depends... I've read School Rumble, Naruto, Chobits, FMA [etc] all before watching the anime...
To be honest I really didn't like FMA when I read the manga... But when I saw the anime, I fell for it and decided to give the manga another chance... And now I prefer the manga (than the anime) O___o
But I prefer watching the anime first, dunno why though...
