I was just watching a movie the other day and it was pretty entertaining until they got to one of those graphically hollywood sex scenes. it was so unnecessary! it just seemed like a scene that was tacked in there for... whatever reason it is that they put those scenes in movies. it especially makes movie watching uncomfortable when i'm with my mom or dad O_o...
but anyways, what do you think about these scenes? are they really pivotal to the substance of a movie?

I really don't think that they are important!They don't add anything to the film !
They are just some kind of commercial thing to get the movie to be sold, because some people like that kind of stuff... and you are right it is quite annoying to watch films like that with parents around... I always have a hand on the remote control to avoid any kind of embarassement :)
What I don't understand is the reason why some people think that showing sex on TV or in films is a kind of freedom of expression...

I think that they're unnecessary...they don't give you any important info about the situation...probably they're there just to fill some space...probably they didn't know how to develope the story and they put it there...I never like those scenes...even because: why should I care about what people do when they're alone in their beds?

I don't think there is anything wrong with sex in movies per se, but it's a matter of how well movie makers are able to pull it off. As many have already mentioned, many movie makers can't pull it off. Sex scenes in most mainstream movies are exaggerated (it can't possibly be that pretty or fantastic feeling) and unconvincing when it's in the romantic sense. Mostly it's corny. But I'm not against sex in movies. Being comfortable watching sex scenes is a matter of your own comfort level and your interpretation of the act itself. For some, sex can be an important aspect of their lives so seeing it in a movie may have a different meaning for others who don't care too much for sex. As long as it isn't unwittingly corny.

I agree with you, showing the love part of life is not bad but should not be exagerated as in nowadays films...

Yeh, when waching a movie with your parents or someone that is not your peer, and there is a sex scene in it, is realy uncomfartable. But when whaching it with your peers its not realy a problem.

Wrong. When i was your guys age they showed way more sex scenes. Its more rare to see one today. All i most see now is a little nudity or like a light speed sex scene.

I guess it is just a comercial trick to increase the movie audience. Like for all those who like jessica alba, the producers would expect them to buy their tickets for the movie for sure & scenes with jessica undressed is what they really paid for. So "beauty" beats talent in terms of hollywood films, that's why i don't wathc american films.

Your generalizing. Not all the movies are like that. You should watch some of our films. We have alot of good ones.

I totally agree with kieselgurgh, it's rarely used for anything else than selling a movie. I think that most sex scenes are completely unnecesary, and they should only be used in an artistic/romantic way(you know, when the plot has no other way of showing that deep connection between two people), so that they don't sell out the idea that sex is just something people do, with no emotional burden attached. And even then, it's much better just to give a light idea of it, not actually showing everything that happens.
