Supersticious
Who here is superstitious? Just wondering, I personally am not, but that's just me, what about the rest of you?
Indeed I am, very. Not to the point of paranoia though...
Well in terms of Golf I am quite superstitious. When I do good shots with a Driver from the Tee-off I stick to the driver all the time. I believe that when I change my driver and take Wood 3 or Wood 4, I'm gonna mess up my tee-shots,... and I DO mess them up for some odd reason, although the swing is the same. I feel some kind of fear inside of me as well.

Well, i hate it everytime my family brings up these stupid supertision about stuff such as:
When i leave the dining table, the rest of the family wont get married (therefore i have to wait for them to finish, and theyre like SNAILS)
Cutting your nails on a friday means bad luck (bulls**t i say, but my mum really gets MAD at me everytime i do it on a friday. WTF?!)
If you gonna cross a forest, you have to say *in filipino* "tabi tabi po" which means "excuse me please" or something like that in english. Reason as they say is cuz some "dewende's" (thats in filipino...dunno direct english translation) live in their. Seriously...i couldnt care less about creatures that i cant see.
~~
Therfore, unless they have a scientific explanation for a extraordinary phenomenon...then maybe ill start believing.

Not really superstitious, but I do take part in some of the sports craziness from time to time -- out of good fun.
For example, my hockey team not doing as good as they should be in one of the playoff games? Clearly that's my fault for not actually wearing my hockey sweater as I watch the game. They still not quite up to par? Clearly I need a couple of pieces of memorobilia on top of the television to help inspire them. Things like that...
My Dad, and even my sister do this on occassion, but it's all done tongue-in-cheek.

I've never heard of any of these, but you mention filipino in the last example. Maybe it's something culturally specific? I've certainly never heard the one about cutting your nails on friday, that's just insane.
That said, I'm certainly not supersitious. I think logically, so something silly like these just doesn't sit right with me. I certainly don't argue with people over it - if they want to do something that they think is good luck, or conversely, they want to avoid something they think is bad luck, they're welcome to. Makes no difference to me. I try to explain to people how stupid some of these things sound, but they rarely wish to hear it.

I'm superstitious to the point where I avoid breaking mirrors/walking under ladders/coming across black cats as much as possible, but not to the point where if I break a mirror I immediately go inside and stay there for 7 years until my bad luck is finished. Although, I am superstitious to the point where I won't say things like "I wish he was dead!" for fear that the one time in my life that a wish will have been fulfilled will be that time. It's silly, but it's just the way I am I guess.

Hahaha, I feel your pain dude. For instance, I sometimes sit on the Uni table (who doesn't?) during a break, then some people would be going haywire saying "Don't do that! Otherwise you won't be able to pay your debts in the future!", I'd just go "...-_-"
Well I don't think i'm all that superstitious, I think its a waste of time if you see a cat pass your road and you decide to turn around and take another route, i perfer just driving safely...Where as I do believe in the superstitious things i want to believe in like black magic.
I am not personally supersticious, I joke around with stuff like that to people who are supersticious like doing 'things' that can cause bad luck over and over again while around them and occasionally getting them involved. I find it very amusing.
Alright, so the way I see this is that everything people do to prevent something bad from happening will usually end of causing them more harm than good.

I don't consider myself superstitious, but I like to see how people are scared of whatever inventions the ancestors came up with concerning different stuff. Like don't walk under a ladder, beware of the black cat (I have a half-black cat, I should have bad luck for life! XD) etcetera, etcetera
I think those little superstitions keep some people mentally healthy - some don't know what to believe in any more and turn to these.
