Introduction:
Seems like both artists and supporters like this contests, so we going right on the third, no time to waste! After a bit discussion and the reviewing the opinions of our participants we go with the 2009 series contest.

Who can apply:
No restrictions, just be sure that your work is your own and has high quality.

Rules:
*The scans used as sources must be present at AnimePaper.
*The submitted entries must be just a character vector, no full wallpapers are allowed.
*The submitted entries must fulfill the requirements for vectors in AP's FAQ.
*Only one entry per person.
*One character only. Full or close-up, depends on you.
*No limitation in style, you also can use colored lines, gradients or light effects.
*No extra background decorations. Keep a solid one-color overlay arround it.
Round rule:
*The submitted entries must to represent a series started in 2009.

Rule description: (important)
So what we await from you, what is acceptable?
*Brand new series, aired in first time in this year (Hatsukoi Limited, Pandora Hearts, Princess Lover, etc.)
*New seasons to existing series, when the new starts from episode 1 (Hayate no Gotoku 2, Spice and Wolf 2, etc.)

So that means that ongoing series with xxxth episode like Bleach or One Piece are not acceptable :P Also by the new season series, try to use scan showing the new season if possible.

Prizes & voting:
After closing the contest a voting topic will be created. Everybody can vote, who is a member here at least for one month. Prizes will be banners with the achieved placing, and also everybody else will got one for just mere participating.

Important:
No need to write here who will or not will join, just submit your entries in this topic and we will take that as participating. Link a full resolution JPG version of your work from some free hosting site, so that everybody can zoom on it. (we recommend Imageshack, Picasaweb or if you have a DeviantArt account) You are free to make a new entry or updating the existing, until the contest is ongoing. Would be good if you could write a description and guess I don't need to remind you guys to sign your own works.

Are vectors from manga series which started in 2009 acceptable too?

As long it has the 2009 timestamp and has a category on AP, is acceptable.

This is my first contest in AnimePaper site and I would try to participate, an occasion to learn the vector art I think XD

so my question is: could I use a black/white manga scan in AP or is allowed only color scans??

For inspiration, here's the Wiki list of 2009 anime series.

@SamB: vectoring a b&w scan is definitely allowed, but it's known to be pretty difficult. So if you're new to vectoring, I strongly suggest trying an easier scan first, with enough outline, color and shadow information.

Ok, thanks for the advice I think I could try to something easy! But there is an image on Ah my Godness scan gallery that I would like vectorize... so I think I will try to vectorize it without use it for this contest ^^" and I will post the result in a new post to receive advices! see you soon!

GA are you sure that list on wiki is correct? Some of the series on that list like xxxHolic and Eureka Seven aired before 2009.

I'm going to guess that's the Eureka Seven movie and xXxHoliC : Shunmuki (OAD), both released in 2009 as far as i know.

There was a bleach movie that was released in 2009, but bleach is still not allowed. :S

Bleach movie was from December 2008. They showed it at the cinema in asia then. DVD release was in 2009 as far as know.

I'll do Pandora Hearts, that should be okay I think.

Um, pandora hearts anime started 2009 but the manga started about 2006
must the scan being used is the anime scan or the manga scan is permitted too?

Scarlet36: if possible, try a anime scan, usually there is difference in the drawing style even by 3 years. So no manga covers pls :P

To all:
We cannot, and will not police the scans which you guys used as sources. I just recommend to do a little research before you start it. There is enough new series out there to do by everyone a single vector at least. So do not ask guys like "XY anime from 2005 has now a Movie/OVA, it is acceptable?" Well it isn't :P Reasons above.

I said "for inspiration", not that the was a stict guideline :P

Anyway, correct me if I'm wrong, but you are allowed to use a scan that was scanned before 2009, while the series weren't released before '09, right?
For instance Kiddy Girl-and (Kiddy Grade 2) has some old scans from 2007, but the series started airing this year.

Can I make extensions? I mean, am I allowed to draw missing parts, such as legs or hair?
On that note, can I change the expression of the char'? Like make her smile when she's gloomy in the scan, etc.
