^nat
After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

I don't know on what size you're working but she has jaggy lines all over...
You should show us the full size version of your work in progress...
And if I can give you a tip... It would be to just start with a layer and only make the outlines first... Then add the colors on a layer under them...
It's easier and then you don't need to mind the superposition of the colors...

If you want some other advices about vectoring you can check on this tutorial. It's the one I used to start vectoring and I already got a lot of nice comments about that vector... So well take a look on it! :D

Zazou888 >> WOW quick replies :P. For the layers, the lines are already over the color....I'm impatient so I want to put color in it before I have even finished it :P and I have used this tutorial already for some practice ^^. thanks for the comment I really appreciate :).

For the jaggy lines, some of them are not trace yet...it is just a maker...so it is normal ^^.
So here the picture I am using for my vector :

Yes I see some black outlines on some parts but it's not like you had some real outlines made with shapes... I know it's written anywhere but you need to use the shape way to do your outlines... And It's a bit confusing cause you say the lines are jaggy cause they aren't finish yet... But when you do some vectoring you use the pen tool to get the shape of the color you want and then you add the color... So you should have sharp ends... At least in my mind it's the case.. And even so the outlines are jaggy...

How many times did you stretch the original picture before starting the vector work?

Zazou8888 >> WOW some clear comment ^^, I like that. I'll try to do my best to make the proper correction on the lines as you mentionned. Thanks again :P

For the picture I didn't strech it...I found it that way...

Thanks everyone for the comment ^^ I really appreciate :)

You didn't stretch it! I knew it! :D That's why the outlines and lines are jaggy! :D

You should stretch the image at least 300% and use that version to do your vector... Why? Because when you do that, the edges will be sharp and well cut and then will look jaggy... But then again when you'll resize it down to fit your wall, all the jaggyness will disappear! :D Isn't that great? You can try out that trick easily... I don't think it's written in the tutorial of the link but that's a friend of mine how told me to do so ... And she knows a lot about vectoring... So try that and you'll see the difference! ^_^

Well it's looking pretty good but you still didn't stretch the image right? :D It shows...
The lines are still pretty jaggy and you gonna need to pass by that step if you want smooth lines for your vector...

But don't worry... You can stretch it at the end... You stretch it, add the colors in the shapes on the edges then you resize it down to the original size... You'll see it looks much better.

Good luck! :)

Finally, my vector is finished :D. I didn't use the stretching method that zazou8888 suggest ( will use it next time :) thanks for the help by the way) so here the final result:

Rei Ayanami Vector Final

And here my signature base on that vector:

Rei Signature

So, like I said, I'll try to correct the errors (jaggy lines) in this vector and sometime I will make a wallpaper base on this vector and maybe I'll submit it on Anime Paper :D.

The signature and avatar are really cool but if you want to submit the scan in the vector gallery you gonna need to correct the jaggy lines but anyway she looks pretty good...
But maybe for a vector it's a bit small to really comment on the vector technique...

I'm wondering if those black stuff on her bosom are really looking nice.. Why not use a dark grey? Just a thought :)

Aside from the lack of outlines, I can't help but notice that her eyebrows are missing.

Hmm if you want to submit this vector on the gallery, I think you need to resize the size and make it bigger, and also it will be good if you do the outlining. I can see some jagged lines also, hmm for me, I used pen tool and shape to vector the image.

And the signature looks great ^^

Good Luck~
