Not too much for me to say about this wallpaper that hasn't already been said: Dalarty has provided a descriptive walk through all the way from the concept idea, to its execution and ultimately its fruition. And you can really see how that careful planning paid off. But it just goes to show, good ideas take time---and a whole lot of patience!

Where do you need to use the computer?
Is it important to be able to move it easily, use it at multiple locations?

With a desktop you'll get more power for your money and have the ability to upgrade it easily at a later date.

As for the programs you want to run, it's more dependant on what you want to do with the programs. Any modern computer can run all those at the same time. But not all can run them well if your editing very large images for example.

^ Agreed. But if you are going to buy a laptop and wanna walk around with it. Make sure you buy a light one. Do not buy heavier one because it's cheaper. You'll end up using it as a desktop at home or even not using it at all. Get one under 2kg at least. Also get a lot of RAM if you plan to use those all at once esp you are using photoshop and illust combo. Get like 2GB.

I think I would go with a laptop for the things you're doing. Get it with a decent video chip and say 1GB/2GBs of RAM and that would be perfect. You could also get an external drive to keep your media (music/pictures, etc...) on if you wanted. The laptop would mean you could also move it around and bring it with you wherever!

It's depend on your needs and what you usually do with it. If you want to play games, or 3D rendering, sure desktop is the best choice. But if you only want to use a graphic designing, such as Photoshop or Corel, you should buy the laptop(or tablet PC). Laptop and desktop have their own advantages and disadvantages. Laptop good on their mobility, and desktop is good on their power. And laptop bad on their specifications, that very afecting the speed of the executed programs, their battery makes it's own limitation to the user, and desktop is bad on their size, which make their mobility less than laptops. So, the decission is yours.

It depends what your doing in Photoshop, if your dealing with large files and complex filters then even a powerful laptop may be very underpowered.

Yo" #(c_c)# emoticon
eee~ for me" (although i'm using notebook/laptop .(-_-). emoticon)
it's best using PC(desktop) if you really want to have a great confidence & quality in doing your job. cause PC can't be death that fast.. XD its hard drive condition is much better on working behind your desktop.. and hmm.. PC hardware can be easily changed or repaired, also it can be bought with cheaper price~

in other hands,

Laptop have a sensitive behaviour, it's hard drive can't be easily agony if you didn't look after it at most time. and hmm.. it used battery power too. so sometimes you must pause your work, when the battery off power.. (without the charger with you.. maybe.. |(o_o) emoticon) the reparation and hardware upgrade price is very expensive either. best of all laptop wins on its small condition, it can't be take anywhere you like. XD

no offense. (and hmm.. sorry if i wrong~ |(C_C)| emoticon )
jya~

regards, sen

Honestly I keep seeing people ask this...but it isn't really something that other people should be answering for you...

Well anyway...I myself prefer desktops simply because I need a powerful computer for various CPU intensive applications and I am a gamer...I have a weak laptop though for basic applications...

If you want to travel somewhere and want to use computer then use laptop but if you want powerful computer then go for desktop.. i got laptop (it great and fast but battery always get flat after 2 hours :S) and i got desktop (it alright cos it 4 years old so i'm planning to rebuild it soon)..

so personally i prefer desktop full stop

(sorry if my english not good)

While it is true that laptops like all computers are getting faster.

The problem is at the point when a laptop becomes powerful like a desktop is when it becomes too heavy to carry around and runs it's batteries out too quickly, thus becoming a desktop replacement system. For a lot of people it's better to just buy a similarly specced (or better) cheaper desktop system, rather than a laptop that is too awkward to carry.

High end laptops are still lacking in power versus high end desktops though.

With that said most modern laptops are powerful enough to do pretty much anything (not gaming as much) a home user will want to do.

I would go with a desktop, the reason being this:
Laptops need to be changed, while you can always upgrade a desktop, think of it like legos. With a desktop, you can always add or change the lego blocks to make your castle higher, but with a laptop, you always need to buy a new castle O_O
