This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.

While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

Hello everyone, and thank you for taking a look. It seems that I have finally gotten around to making a wall. Took me long enough, huh?!
Anyway, If you're interested this wall took me about an hour or so to make this using adobe photoshop, and used about eight layers. With the use of a scan from here I took all of the characters, as well as the free flying paper and put them on seperate layers and individually added drop shadow, and tweaked the brightness and contrast of each layer. My goal in doing that was to make each character *pop* (so to speak). I extended the background, added the anime's logo, and some text. I utilized the magic wand, lasso, and cloning stamp tools, as well as utilized some blending options, brightness/contrast, and hue and saturation adjustments. This wall as you can probably gauge from the wall is intended for the anime Read or Die. This is my first ever wall, and I hope you enjoy it. I await your input, and value your opinion greatly. Thank you for taking the time to take a look.

Here!

Hey, it's pretty good for your first ;) but the whole wallpaper seems a little...fuzzy...was the scan you used of high quality? Also, the text seems really big, it takes away the emphasis of the characters. You might want to keep these in mind when your tweaking :)
Anyway, keep working hard, good job so far!

Yo" #(c_c)# emoticon
eee~ 1st of all, this is quite a nice wallpaper for a 1st timer" P(T_T) emoticon but hey, there's several part i would like to critique"

1st part,
the whole wall looks crumpy~ except for the text" (look at the BG/left side!{is that a filter?!} the scan too! especially the paper" argh!) you better save the JPG/PNG files with maximum quality. to handle the wall with best quality! (quality is the main priority~ xD)

2nd part,
scan is the most important part in doing wall job, yours didn't work out yet" the line at the edge of the whole scan didn't cleared enough. it's so unreliable to see it" you need to make it cleared enough. (make the line blacker.. you know what i mean?) including, the papers flying around.. (is it connected with the scan or with separated layers?) that's really distracting the view~ (especially the one near the text, i looks more like tofu? haha") you better re-extract all of them~

3rd part,
The BG" (OMG~ looks distracting & confusing in my eyes~) the blur stuff at the left of the wall behind the text, wipe out the original image" looks weird~ better remake the BG~ or even re-coloring the BG~ (come on~ that looks super hazy~)

4th part,
eee~ the text though, looks too simple~ (but that's okay if you want it just like that.. up to you~) better put some creativity in the text like mm.. bundle every text randomly with thin text in capitally, and mm.. used glow effect in it with different (but almost same..) color alteration~ (haha! that's my suggestion.. xD)

5th part,
your signature please.. as the rule given in AP~ you must stated your name or sig that could showing you as the real wall creator~ without that, probably 90% disapproved from gallery~ (your AP name "whitewolfewarrior" right?)

other than that, looks COOL as a 1st timer~

no offense,

good luck! keep rock'n~
jya"

regards, sen

Thank you for your input.
I shall take to mind all of your suggestions.

s3n1sh1, thanks for pointing out the signature thing, It completely slipped my mind. I'll certainly remember to put it on my finnished wall.

If you're interested, here's a link to the very scan I utilized. The Scan!

Thanks again for taking the time to take a look. Your opinions are greatly valued, and I await any further input.

Mmm, it's quite artifacted. I would suggest re-extracting the characters and then pasting them on a new layer before shrinking them down. Never resize up :3

plus, there's still a split running across the blue skirt and white coat. The clone brush in PS will fix this nicely, if you set it to clone all the layers below it and work on a new layer every few strokes.

The left side is also quite blurry.

The scan indeed needs a lot of cleaning. The left side of the wall is just a sort of strange gradient of green... Not really something interesting.

The text is much too big and doesn't really blend with the happy feeling of the characters.
Why not put them in the middle of the picture? then add some grass all around, use the eraser on a low opacity to erase the edges of the scan we still can see en then add the text under the character or in the top of the wall?

You also should work more on those flying pages and make some more shadows on the characters and around to complete the shadows of the trees that are supposed to be around the girls (you already have a shadow on the foot of the little girl to show you what kind you need to do).

You could also add more books all around them and play more with the cleaning...

Also make sure you use the "save for web" option of your software and also make sure your hosting site doesn't damage your wall while saving it...

Good luck.
