Surfing in the internet I´ve found in the Gunota Headlines page this very interestting news:
New Gundam TV series confirmed: Mobile Suit Gundam 00
A very short promo appeared after today´s episode of TBS/MBS "Towards The Terra" announcing a new Gundam series. Mobile Suit Gundam 00 (Double Oh) is set to air at 6pm on Oct 2007.
The official site Gundam 00 is up providing a (too short for my taste) streaming promo streaming promo.
Known details are:
Setting - 2307 AD ("seireki", Japanese for "anno domini")
Characters . 4 Gundam Meisters, who pilot the mobile Weapons.
Factions - Solestal Beings, a private milita group whose purpose is to eradicate wars.
Tagline at the end of the commercial - "Rebirth begins through destruction"
Rumors about the series have been going around Japanese message boards for some time, especially after Sunrise registeres several Gundam00 domains. The proclamation that the setting would neither be in the Universal Century of the original series nor the Cosmic Era of Gundam SEED, as stated by Sunrise´s Yasuo Miyakawa, seems to have been followed through with. Staff members are yet to be confirmen although the most persistent rumor is taht the series will be directed by Fullmetal Alchemist´s Seiji Mizushima.

It's a good news that we will see another gundam series but I wish they don't follow "Traditions" I am talking about title. I don't want to see "Mobile Suit" in the front of Gundam. I want to see something like: Beyond the Time ~ Rebirth of Gundam 00 or Anyother name. What do you think about changing titles of Gundam Series ?

Well what you know its a tie. Its not going to be another U.C. Gundam series or C.E. Gundam series. This time its set right here on our own reality. Sounds fair, and I actually like the idea of the new Gundam being here on earth in a distant future. The only thing that I hope is that its not another Gundam Wing crap series. I mean UC and CE are great, fucking Wing is just Gundam for girls, in other words, just a waste.
Ummm, you DO get that they're all supposed to just be set in the very distant future right? Especially UC and AC universes. Seed is a little more questionable because the geography doesn't quite pan out right.
And now the casting for the actors is almost complete,
as we begin the third act.
All that's left is to wait for the curtain to rise.

I think you misunderstood what I was said or I said it wrong. All I’m saying is that the new this new Gundam Universe is actually our universe only that 300 years from now. Why do I say this, because it uses our calendar. And when it comes to Gundam that’s the only way you have to difference between its different universes. That is why I say that if they use our calendar system then it means that the story is set in our universe. I know that U.C. is technically still this earth but it’s an alternate version of earth. So U.C. is not the same as our calendar or reality as it is not the same as the C.E. calendar or reality. If not who can you explain that in the CE Gundam stories no one knows who Amuro is, or that they did not know what a Gundam was. And if you tell me that it happened before then why no one in the UC knows about Gudams or about Kira. There two different realities. So I think is fair to say that this new Gundam reality is our reality only that its 300 in to the future.

From Sotsu Agency´s official website, the press release for Mobile Suit Gundam 00, the 12th Gundam TV series and the first to be broadcast in Hi definition. The premise is given as follows:
"The setting is Earth 300 years from the present day, in 2307 AD (as I´ve written before). The series depicts the protagonist, Setsuna F. Seiei, who pilots a Mobile Suit (Gundam Excia) for a mysterious private militia (called Celestial Being), going against a whole world where conflicts never cease and the struggle to erradicate war."
Bandai Namco´s press release says the first Gundam 00 plamodel, the 1/144 Gundam Excia, comes in september.
Outside of Gunpla, expect a slew of merchandising including figures, candy toys, vending machine stuff, appareal, video games, mobile content, and DVDV & Video.

A new gundam series is awesome i'm a gundam head too... but i don't think any new gundams can beat out the gundam wing series... now that was awesome!
They are also planning to make a sequel to Gundam Seed

So I think is fair to say that this new Gundam reality is our reality only that its 300 in to the future.
The U.C. time line is just like any other time line. Most people generally agree that it the U.C. time line started at 2081 A.D. After that being the U.C. 0001 and so on. 2045 A.D. is when the colony building began when Earth's population is at 9 billion.
Considering Gundam 00 is 300 years later from today, we can pretty much conclude that the U.C. time line and 00's time line are both different and alternate from our realities.
Gundam 00 had better not shell out lame stories and less than desirable designs. Since there isn't too much to go on from their main site, I'll reserve my judgement when more information becomes available.
And I was hoping for Gundam Unicorn to be animated but I guess that isn't going to be happening...
Call me an old fart but for me, the UC Gundam series still rules. And for some very strange reason, the character design and the promo reminds me distrubingly of Gundam W.
So I don't hold any high hope for this . Those old farts like me who like their Gundam a little 'more realistic', be sure to check out both Gundam Igloo series. They rox!! Is it a coincidence that they are set during the one year war in the UC universe?? I let you be the judge. :D

The story of the new GUNDAM is very interesting for me.
But it's difficult for me to consider the mecha GUNDAM ^^;
