Not too much for me to say about this wallpaper that hasn't already been said: Dalarty has provided a descriptive walk through all the way from the concept idea, to its execution and ultimately its fruition. And you can really see how that careful planning paid off. But it just goes to show, good ideas take time---and a whole lot of patience!

Hell NO! Anime is not childish unless you watch anime like Beyblade or Yu-Gi-Oh!. I got the same comments from my parents. Now, our parents are people of the old days and those old days, cartoons are centered for the children in majority.

Unlike us who watched an evolved form of entertainment which no longer focuses on slapstick humor and kiddy themes. Anime these days has complex plot, characters, etc. Let your parents or friends see a good anime like Ergo Proxy, Gundam SEED, FMA, Elfen Lied and Shuffle! I'm very sure they will change their way of thinking...

Me? I failed to convinced them since they are stubborn and judges a book by its cover...

Its more along the line that your peers do not understand the anime media - perhaps they think that anime is just another form of cartoon, which we all know is wrong. of course, our general perception is that cartoon is for little kids - anime, however, is intended for almost all age group.

of course, people who's never watched anime would never know or understand it. its just how it is :\

Of course it is not for children since their stories, character, and design are as complicated as movies and about my parents and friends i gave up a long time ago to convince them so i don't pay any attention to their comments these days. also even if it is for children since i like it I'll keep watch it till i'll hate it which is not probable for the short term

No. America's mainstream anime is directed towards children so that's why your parents think you are too old for it.

I mean, Ninja scroll? Hellsing? Think those are for children? lol

X3 your parents and your friends all have misunderstood animes > < Like people watching The Simpsons and they are so mature or what? I think watching anime is more mature than watching those kinds of stupid cartoons... they don't have a plot and the art is crap. Why does everybody thinks animes are chidish even before watching it? I don't understand.

Nothing new, heard it a thousand times, "haven't grown up yet from watching this?" never have them atention, didn't let it get to me, but then again if i would, i woulden't have been watching any anyme except sailor moon, the only anime that "caught me" when i was a kid. i say just do what you want, you got only one life, mind ass well enjoy it (don't get me wrong "enjoy it" with dicencey) like my literature professor sais: "have freedom respecting the other's freedoms as well". we got the freedom to watch anime, so what's it to them? let them talk all they want they'll get bored, or mouth-dry in the worste case scenario

When watching anime consider this "Would a child or an immature person be allowed to watch something that has a great deal of bloodshed, some nudity, and cursing involved?"

Anime is mostly directed towards teens and adults. Naturally there are animes for children but if you actually pay attention to the content of most of the animes now it's something that kids shouldn't be watching or using as their role models.

Why do you think 4Kids (the ultimate evil in English dubbing of animes) always butchers the storyline and dialogue of the characters, so they could make it appropriate for kids to watch. In many situations, full episodes have to be cut out because there's no way it could be edited so it's appropriate for kids to watch (e.g. Pokemon when James had breasts) and even seasons aren't dubbed because most of the season can't be edited (e.g. Sailor Moon's Sailor Star season because the Sailor Stars transformed from men to women).

Also, remember, anime ALSO involves hentai, yaoi, yuri, shotakon, and lolikon; all categories you do NOT want kids looking at, especially the last two.

Anime also, like others have said, is the best cartoons there are right now. Sure American cartoons are hilarious (Family Guy) or teach morals (Uh, don't know any really) but there's really nothing artistic or beautiful about it. Anime is able to really draw in the viewer and capture the storylines and emotions involved very well. Many animes I don't even understand or I'm just too immature to comprehend because they're so complex and detailed. Others you have to be mature to a certain degree to find funny.

So are you immature for watching anime? Ask yourself that again, because most (who actually know what anime is) would disagree.

Actually thought it was more like the western world believes anything animated is for kids.
Well who cares about whether or not they think it's childish, animes are the shit.
I'd watch a good anime over some movie at the theaters any day.

Anime is a whole other for of entertainment that has ranging subject matter, intended audiences, and overall quality. It's not just a cartoon that just happens to come from Japan, it has a whole culture thats spread all around the world.

One of my friends though that anime was weird, until we watched a random episode of GITS SAC (one from the second Gig, I forget now). After he was like "Damn... That was pretty cool."

If somebody calls you childish for liking anime, show them the bloodiest anime you have, then some hentai. o_O

I agree. I also believe it depends on what kind of anime you're watching. If you're watching a mature anime containing gore and curse words, then I don't consider that childish. Although, If you're still watching your favorite episodes of Doraemon and such, then yes, I do consider you childish =P

It is quite fatuous, but it is just what the people who don’t watch anime think.Contrarily ,I think it is a great pity for not watching anime, for anime can teach us a lot, something we won’t easily acquire in our real world.Anime is no longer just for children, there are anime that are fit for teenagers, adults,or families. As I know,in Japan, many adults and elderly people still keep watching anime, and even the prime minister watch it.Actually, prime minister of Japan like watching Rosen Maiden and he did appear in the ads of it,so he is said to be the prolocutor of Rosen Maiden.
In fact,in some anime, there are something not fit for children,I think the parents should guide their children in some way to watch anime correctly.
