Childish of being watched ANIME?
The only people who think it's childish is because they're judging the whole anime world off 'Pokemon' and we all know how that's reacted to if you're found to liking it and you're over 12 years old. -__-
I was the same; only with one of my parents though. All you have to do is stick in a DVD that is most definitely NOT for children and it will shut them right up. 8D

Nope anime is ab soo lute ly not childish and is made for everyone. YOu feel me
I can't remember how many times I've had that said to me when I watch anime...Of course I don't find it to be childish, it depends on the type you watch. I believe it depends on the type you watch also. I mean...I suppose it would be a bit childish if you were forty something and watching pokemon in other people's eyes. Doesn't really apply to me however.
I usually point out the reruns of shows that *they* watched back in the day, then point out how "childish" they are as well (no matter what happened things would hit the status quo by the end of the episode, the rose-colored outlook they take on the world, etc).
Works like a charm.

Haha, it´s not childish, most of the anime it´s not for children, anyway, I don´t have too much problem with that, my dad (age 57) and my bib bro (age 28) watch anime, my mom loves to sing with me japanese songs from anime!! hehe. there always gonna be people saying "please grow up" (like my sister), who cares, VIVA EL ANIME!!

Watching anime NEVER renders you childish! Some people draw parallels to cartoons when they think about anime (particularly the older generation), but they really can't seem to see the point. Cartoons are yeah, childish. I mean, what they show in there is actually some random concoction of humour and a tad little fiction, which seems ridiculous now, but it would feed well on a young child's curiosity. Animes are distinctly different! They have more mature content (*ahem* not THAT mature), and typically describes a teenager's life, a manifestation of an ordinary teen's aspiration and dreams as they strive to release themselves from the manacles of stress in the modern day society...
No i don't think so...
i even saw a 20++ buying many anime...
so i doesn't think it's childish... i like it forever!

I think that people perceive Anime Watchers for being childish because of the previous image of Clasic Cartoon (which is intended for children viewers). None of them would ever think that: "Ah, that cartoon character had a rough life" or "The story of this cartoon is too deep". But Anime does! And mostly containing adult story. Let us take an example of Blood+, Ergo Proxy, or even AIR... They have a plot that not every 'child' would understand. It requires thinking process and further knowledge to the story.
What I would say is that, "Not all ANIME is Childish"

My sis didn't really like anime initially but she watched some now, she really like Fate/Stay Night (as I do) and she finds all the little merchandise I bought cool.
My mom, on the other hand, used to think anime is cartoon, but she's pretty reasonable so she's quite convinced that anime isn't for kids now. I think the most important thing is that you shouldn't hide something or feel be ashamed about it. Like most of my friends know I am into anime and my room has posters and stuff about it, and you shouldn't be shy and try to hide your hobby. Then again, I don't have stuff like ecchi models or swimsuit figurines or stuff like that in my room, I don't like them personally, and I can imagine it could be a little awkward if your friends came to your room for the first time.

Seriously, anime is not childish at all,i dont get it,y does some people have this kind of thought in their mind?where do they get this thought?Anime is so much different than normal cartoon in disney channel or some other channels, anime has an intereting storyline, awesome art and nice characters, some of them even have a wonderful soundtrack. If anime is for children, then why there is so many teens or grows up like to watch anime?BTW,some anime consist of sexual appeal, violences, rude languages which are not suitable to watch by young children.
I would consider myself is very lucky since my parents didnt say such things to me,they allow me to do things i like ,with limit of course. Moreover,i can get advantages by watching anime, oone of the advantage is i can learn some simple japanese language through anime. So,what is the harm of anime?i cant think of any.
