Not too much for me to say about this wallpaper that hasn't already been said: Dalarty has provided a descriptive walk through all the way from the concept idea, to its execution and ultimately its fruition. And you can really see how that careful planning paid off. But it just goes to show, good ideas take time---and a whole lot of patience!

If this isn't a search box, then where's the frakking search box? Put it at the top of the main page, for crying out loud.

People who says anime are for children are usually people who havent even considered looking into anime and c what it is about. and as most people said, some animes are not even suitable for children. parents can easily get the wrong perspective, since cartoons on tv are from america, etc which isnt as complex as japanese anime. when anime is really shown on tv, it is usually dubbed in english, and they make the voices very childish, so even if the anime wasn't childish, the dubbing makes it childish.

but it is hard to explain to some people, esp adults, since they have the old fashioned idea that cartoons are meant to only be for children, but there are some anime that are really childish

Most anime that I have watched are not for children. Excluding anime like Pokemon, anime is in fact very complex and IMO comparable to a movie. Anime introduces very interesting topics and also makes a point on more then one occasion. Dubbing does make an anime feel childish, but if you watch the japanese versions, it doesn't feel childish at all. American cartoons are very much different from anime as anime is drawn in a more mature way. American cartoons are, on the other hand, drawn in a more childish way. Adults don't really understand sometimes but I suppose if they actually watched anime thmeselves they would realise.

It depends on the anime you watch. Pokemon and Digimon are definitely childish, but surely more gory anime aren't. Just like manga isn't simply aimed at teens are there are also adult comics and adult anime. It can also be a matter of preference, but sometimes you are what you watch. Me, very complicated; I watch Pokemon and Pretty Cure at one hand and Chrono Crusade and Naruto on the other (among all others).

Even if it is not true that anime are childish it still is very annoying when another kid in school goes "Hahaha you watch cartoons!" and starts yelling in front of the whole school.Anime are definitely not childish and especially anime like Saikano,Elfen Lied,Jigoku Shoujo and Gungrave as for American cartoons I just wonder if they refer to South Park as childish...

I don't find it childish or immature at all! My parents and sisters just hink its an intelligence thing. I dunno though there are plenty of people that I work with and hang with that like anime, I just dont really talk about it much to those who dont like it. And as for it being a cartoon, well Idon't think I'd call it that because "cartoons" are like looney toones and stuff. Anime has complex characters and storylines, take GITS for example, I wouldn't let kids watch alot of anime that is out there, just by nature of the fact that they're not designed for kids.

Even if you watch pokemon, Beyblade, Doreamon, Digimon, yu-gi-oh...and all other types of anime, have no doubts that anime is NOT childish.

Maybe 3/4 of the anime fans world wide have the same problems, family, friends and people around us stick to the term of childish stuff when it comes to anime. I mean quite obvious for people that have 30years or more to never change opinion since they grown up in a society that excepted such things aka mickey mouse and bugs bunny, that back at those days they where rated for a very small age, to be childish, immature and unprofitable. But you really can't have an age of below 20 and still not understand the difference between anime and cartoons. I mean both are business but anime normal age rate is always 14+ and the way expression is used in Japanese animation is complex and sometimes, talking from experience, one doesn't get hold of the story well until he watches the particular anime more than once.

Another particular detail about this is the "where you live" factor. American dubbers them selves, such as Crispin Freeman, makes it a fact that in America people still think of anime as cartoons entirely connected with children, but what Americans don't comprehend is that there are places, such as my country, an island in the middle of the Mediterranean sea, that there are no such things as conventions, manga located in normal book shops, where to buy models, posters, DVD's all the other merchandise. I mean heaven for the fans will always be Japan but this is just a wrong theory that non-anime viewers cannot comprehend and like it or not they have accept such hobbies and interests as all they have to keep in mind is the word "Tolerance"

Many parents thinks anime is for children because they see animes equal to cartoons. but many animes especially made for grownups. i think this is because many people don't know anything about animes.

I don't think Anime is childish and whoever says that it is has obviously never watched it themselves. There are Anime shows specially for children, like the ones I'm sure most of us grew up watching, but most of it is for the older audience. Most people just don't see past the fact that Anime is not acted out by real people, and they could be just those people who think it's weird because its from Japan.

Yea it is just not aimed at Adults like in Japan its for all ages. In America its work hard all day and our culture looks down on anything that wasn't mainstream in our past, like watching animated characters talk. I sometime look at my Grandfathers face when he sees me in the living room, it just blows his mind away on how anyone older than 12 could watch something. Then again its getting worse too, I'm 21 and I believe I'm very productive with my time but in my time off on college breaks I just like to kick back and play video games as well as watch anime. NOT does a two days pass when the comments start coming in, then they go watch survivor or some other clone ABC or NBC TV show.

For me Yu-Gi-Oh! is not a childish anime, I watch most of the episodes of Yu-Gi-Oh! I learn all about the techniques and strategies on how to beat your opponent using your cards.... Skills is the best way to beat an enemy. Also watching anime is not so childish, it depends on what you watching...... What do you think about Tsubasa Chronicle, Ayashi No Ceres and Curios Play?... Actually those anime are very romantic, the topic of those anime is always about love and romance...... So what do you think about it......

I forgot how much I enjoyed this anime, I wouldn't count this as childish either, but I would hamtaro(This is clearly for children). Pegasus was hilarious with his constant marks to kabia and Yugi. I don't know about learning card game skill from them as they tend to bend the rules as they played, but the first couple of sagas were very entertaining.

Childish? LMAO.

Show them something like Black Lagoon, Spriggan, Berserk, Elfen Leid, Blood+, Hellsing, Ghost in the Shell, or Akira.

Oh wait I know! Let's let 5 year olds watch Death Note!! That'll get a TV-Y for sure. They'll air it right after Pokemon on Saturday mornings.

I'd rather watch 3-4 episodes of an Anime for an hour instead of an hour of quality crap like Survivor or American Idol.
