Childish of being watched ANIME?
No it's not childish. some animes were made for adults as were some cartoons. and if it is childish to watch anime then I never want to act like an adult when it comes to that aspect.
I think its childish to think of anime like that. I mean they make it for everyone not just for kids!
It's the same with me.... my dad and my friends said that i'm very childish because i watch anime... but i don't think so... because anime has some ratings..... example. child, teenagers, adult... so we can't say that all anime are childish... he3^^
My mum thinks that i'm too old for animes too. I have to agree with many of the posts before mine. People who say that u're too old for anime do not watch anime themselves. They miss a lot - the beautiful character designs, interesting storyline, amazing sceneries, ingenius ideas- by not watching animes.
Not all animes are for kids, definitely. sometimes I get taken back by certain scenes shown in certain animes although i'm old enough for it. i'll think "imagine if a kid accidentally watches this". So there's absolutely no way that you're childish if you watch animes.

It's the cultural difference. Most people think that anime is just plain silly cartoons to entertain little kids. The same goes with manga / HQ.. people think that only kids read manga/HQs, but if we look into japan, we'll see that people from all ages read manga. There are several genres of anime, for different ranges of ages.

Well, my parents told me that, too!! but you only have to look at horror animes or erotic animes like pia carrot or so!! and there is another good example for a bloody anime that i watched only last week Fate stay night!! this is a very wellknown anime( i think its great myself, too)!! there are animes out of every section and for people of every age! the only things i would call childish are pokemon or digimon! but if somebody accuses animes like maburaho, zero no tsukaima, onegai twins lamune ( i could go on for hours like this^^) ... i would get angry! these people who think animes are childish hav´nt even watched one single anime, because then they would know they are wrong! i myself really love animes! i´m especially into romances and comedy but i like animes with magic, too!! And some fanservice sometimes is never wrong^^!! at the moment my favourite is maburaho and zero no tsukaima!!

Well i think there are different type of anime...ones that has the childish theme for children...but there are also those with complex plot and they are too difficult for children to fully understand...
and i don't think parents realised that since they used to watched the cartoon together when we were young ...so they thought that all anime are like that...
it's difficult to change their opinion...since i havn't succeeded yet...haha

I agree, I have never seen a Saturday morning anime show stab people with swords and have twisted plots in the underbelly.
Comon anime can be considered an excllent form of expression, since real life actor don't get the job done( i don't mean they are awfull, butt anime charecters are on another level

Unlike us who watched an evolved form of entertainment which no longer focuses on slapstick humor and kiddy themes. Anime these days has complex plot, characters, etc. Let your parents or friends see a good anime like Ergo Proxy, Gundam SEED, FMA, Elfen Lied and Shuffle! I'm very sure they will change their way of thinking...

Yes I totally agree with you. Anime, well most anime, is for older teens you can't compare some anime with Bugs Bunny Cartoons and such to real animeation that has broader side of cartooing. Yes, anime is cartoons in a way, but what kind of cartoon shots and kills the person and blood and guts fly everywhere. There are some kiddy anime which is meant for kids, but sometimes I have to say that even if they are a apporited for kids the language in there has to make your head turn.
I was watching an anime called Dragon Drive it was an anime and made for 7 and up right. I found out later in the show that one of the charaters said "...bastard" in there. Anime is much more violent than our parent-day-cartoons.
Because i'm watch anime too much...
