Haha..this is common issue to me..my mum always tell me tat i'm 18 and i'm not suppose to be watching anime anymore..but to me,anime are not childish..i'm not childish,in fact i think more mature compare to my friends.i'm not bragging..it's true..my friends ask me for advices when it comes to their personal problems..and anyway,anime is my interest and i like to watch it because it makes me happy.nthg to do at all with being childish..this is what i think.

Man no Anime really isnt childish they say that to get you to be just outgoing, balance your life forget what they say what do they know? Anime is for all ages well providing your old enough to watch the more violent ones etc.
some anime are for some people some for others. childish is something thats lets see a cartoon that teaches kids how to calculate 1+ 1 or one thats specially made for 5 year olds lol come on anime isnt childish just generations some people still live in the freakn stone age lol namely parents!

It is quite fatuous,but it is just what the people who don’t watch anime think.Contrarily ,I think it is a great pity for not watching anime,for anime can teach us a lot,something we won’t easily learn in our real world.such as One Piece, it is mainly about the coalescent of friendship and dream.it is one of my favourite anime and its manga is the best I have read so far.the scene of the anime and manga is the most wonderful and exciting of all the others. The most excellent thing of One Piece is that it show us the true friendship and importance dream and the coalescent of them in an unparalleled way.Anime is no longer just for children,there are anime that are fit for teenagers,adults,or families.As I know,in Japan,many adults and elderly people still keep watching anime,and even the prime minister watch it.Actually,prime minister of Japan like watching Rosen Maiden and he did appear in the ads of it,so he is said to be the prolocutor of Rosen Maiden.In fact,in some anime,there are something not fit for children,I think the parents should guide their children in some way to watch anime correctly.but in fact,there are many teenagers even children who watch anime that are not fit for them at all,and the levels of anime should be divided strictly while in fact they are not.

Ah yeah..i have the same problem here. Everybody, especially my friends i think they think that watching anime is childish(though they don't say me that straight) but even if they said that i dont think i will pay attention to that.I'm all right with it because i like anime and i feel good when i watch it^^

And what is more there are very serious, dramatic(ect..) anime which are addressed to the elder public. There are even X-rated(feh>_< i meen hentai)anime.
But even if you are watching not serious anime it is your freedom to watch whatever you want even if it is Childish.Your geting advantage of it^^! so why should you stress over the people who dont even understands you?^_~ yeah?

It depends on what kind of shows or movies you watch. Berserk and Hellsing is anime, but its violent as hell.

I think they don't understand what anime is. It's not an age rationg, it's a genre, a style, they can range from 8-18, he only reason they think it's childish is because of the mainstream anime's that have been shown, pokemon, digimon, yu-gi-oh, ect. just show your family one of the violent or serious romantic anime's, that'll show them.

Well, yes and no. My friend, who likes anime, talks a lot of anime. Whenever I tell him an anime that has no action and has moslty girls in it, he just tells me if I'm childish with anime. I just tell him that this is my type of anime that I want to watch and the anime he watches are his type. Some anime that we both like are like our type of anime.

Just choose the right ones to watch and don't get overly obsess with it thats what i say

I would say more immature than childish, we are like children but with more benefits.

Oh! of course not! this is not the case...actually there are many adults are still watching animes, so there is definitly no problems that we as teenagers watch animes...
On the other hand, it actually depends greatly on what animes you are watching. If you are watching some stupid animes, that all children under or about the age of 10 know clearly about it, then you may be a little bit childish, but if you are watching animes that are for teenagers, like the kind of Naruto, i think that is very ok!(because i am a form 6 student, and i am a big fan of Naruto..haha)

People always thinks that anime is cartoon but it is actually different.When will people actually realise that?

Anime is not inherently childish. It's just a medium for telling stories. Just like text on pieces of paper can also be used to tell stories (OMG!). I think the real allure that anime has is that many of the stories are unique, interesting and have far more character development than western television. That's what I believe at least.
