Well i have to say i can not focus on one work sometimes~~~but im watching gundam these days(the whole march break~~)tho it's quite old but classic~~~and i really love Cagari in it~~~~since i dont like cagari in gundam seed destiny, i insist this cagari is a gundam seed character lol~~~~
back to the wall~~~~i was trying to relate cagari to desert since she has fighted in desert for a while and i like her most at that time~~~the quality of the original scan of cagari is quite low(since it's huge~~)i tried my best to clean it and i got this, is it still too low quality? and the bg~~i know i cant put a stock pic for bg, but i really dont know how to creat a desert bg by using techs~~~so here i use a photo of desert and tried to cartoonize it~~i read several tutorials on it and finally here's the result~~~i dont think it's acceptable tho~~~but ive no idea how to make any improvement~~~

And also anyone knows the blue stuff in cagari's right hand? i doubt if it's something to clean the inner side of the gun~~~~(sorry for my poor english~~~lol~^^~)

Hmmm... the scan extraction need to be cleanup, especially outer outlines, some part've outlines while other parts dont and do tweaking on outlines
outer part of the scan seems transparent (transparent == no good) dont set the layer blending too much.
vector the scan if you want nice quality scan

what was that in her right hand? a big cotton bud? i dont know too

for the background, i guess it seems too dark for desert. too much shadow on desert and that dont match with the scan.
maybe you can make your own desert bg using desert brush

Yeah i tried to vector it by using coraltrace~~~~but the result is somehow awful~~~

Well I have to say there is something aout it that bothers me, think it is the sort of halo/mirage type wave that has been applied to it, including the ading edges. Think this is because it does not havea mirage title or so...maybe something like desert mirage or something like that. Anyways think that you might still be able to do something like this but just feel the scan ought to be a clean one, but only my opinion. Other thn that I really lie the background and stuff.

Well, i suggest you know how to vector. there's one important rule in vectoring. dont rush it, take your time tracing the details. it should be turned out nice and clean.

Mirage title ? well im not quite clear about that~~~
