GaoGaiGar Wallpaper...Third Attempt
Okay, after all of the comments and suggestions, I have come up with this:
http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/2180/gggwall2byb8.jpg
Yes, Genesic GaoGaiGar has "hair" and that's a big problem when trying to cut it out of a white background. But I did the best I could, re-added hair where some was accidentally cut out or not blending well, and this time I vectored the whole background before adding finishing touches to it. Considering the wallpaper I started out with, this one is totally different. I don't know if that's a bad thing or a good thing, but here it is anyway. So what do you think? ^_^

The robot this pretty and vee fixed but the bottom well personally I do not like can be that and seen she does not animate to .pero the idea of wallpaper is attracts everything I publish to that she can see the series and this page
Okay...I think I got what you're saying. No offense, but that was a bit hard to follow. ^^; The bottom of the wallpaper needs to be fixed? Hmm... well, I was thinking of looking up a flame/fire tutorial and adding some flames to it. Especially to the hair of the robo. I mean, that hair is what detracts mostly from the whole thing. Something layered across the bottom... I need some ideas here. I had rocks and stuff down there before, but they wouldn't go well here. Any thoughts? ^^
Everything seems a bit out of focus/blurry. The hair looks really bad. Sorry - but the edges aren't smooth & there's a couple strands that aren't attached. Also, the girl in the back isn't very focused either. And I don't get tje blueish stuff behind her head.
@ladysaotome: you called mamoru a "she"...ozzie, isn't mamoru a "he"?
anyway. yeah. it's awkward looking at GGG because it looks just shy of being in focus so that he's not exactly very blurry but is still blurred enough it makes you think your eyes have just kinda died on you a little... the detailing and color and kinda 3-d look of the robot doesn't fit with mamoru's simple monochromatic look--that was the reason why the two couldn't interact all along. i'm not sure what could be done to fix that though =/ sorry. and the hair...if you can't remake the hair (use the pen tool to produce smooth curves) then i suggest you edit them out altogether because they look funny.
well, i suppose you could leave it and try flames first...but I can't see the giant robot with a flaming head ^^; anyway, keep on trying.

Yeah, I blurred them intentionally because in the earlier versions everyone kept saying "the images are too sharp" or "the edges are too sharp" or something along those lines, so eh. But I think I've fixed all that. I can't help that GaoGaiGar looks 3D-ish next to Mamoru (who indeed is male...hehe) I mean, I can't make it UN-3D. I did go with fire on the hair though, and I think it looks great. I found a few other tutorials that helped too. The "blueish stuff" behind Mamoru is his wings. I tried to make that more apparent this go around too. Anyway, here it is:

How is this one? ^.^ The background is still the altered G-Stone sequence which I liked a lot. I added green fog to the bottom to have something there that wouldn't detract from the overall image and still be a part of the anime. (GaoGaiGar is surrounded by a green cloud\fog when transforming) I cleaned up both images quite a bit and changed Mamoru's colors somewhat. Is this good enough to submit? Hehe, it sure has changed from it's original concept.

The fire...well, for one it doesn't have any color variation within itself but rather just has a thin darker edge =/ and i see your attempts at making the dancing flame tips but they go in a totally different direction than the ends of GGG's hair, which end so abruptly.
and the fog is too thick. and it's only a bar at the very bottom, which is very odd. =/ lower the opacity and have it swirl around a bit. go play around with it and see what comes of it, though i doubt after that, much of the g-stone thingy will be visible. and then your wall will be pretty much completely dominated by GGG and mamoru. >_<
i'm sorry...don't have too many tips. -_- but as always, good luck.

Hmmmmmmm......... Well, I didn't want the fog surrounding them and it mostly belongs to the robo... I hate that the background gets covered up too... I tried mixing things up a bit. Tell me what you think. ^_^

Too much fog, not enough, just right, or should I just get rid of it? With these positions, the background is visible and everything I need to show up does. ^.^ I also adjusted the flame hair. The color is just that color. I didn't want to change it because then it would be even less like his regular "hair." :-\ I had to do a lot of playing just to get it THAT color. Heh. It turned some wild colors before it settled down. lol
Thanks for the comments! :-)

The butterfly guy image is grainy around the edges.
The green mist looks like it's there to take up space.

I hate to say it but i have to agree with sharpshot that it now looks like the green mist is there to take up space =/ it's like covering a third of the wall and it's just simply there...
and i can't say i favor the side-by-side arrangement of mamoru and GGG. it just look...unartistic? >_< i dunno. this is really hard. =/ hmmm... and yeah, you might need to reoutline mamoru because his outlines are inconsistent and grained.
apologies for nothing much positive having been said above but it's good that you are determined to make it work. =P

Hey Ozzie! I've been following your thread, although I haven't been posting because I don't think I have anything constructive to say that hasn't already been pointed out. I just wanted to tell you that I admire your perseverence and determination with getting this wall done and going through so many revisions too. Keep up this spirit. Everyone needs to learn not to give up when things get a bit tough, especially me. ^^
Hehe, well thank you princessALT. ^_^ If my wallpaper doesn't make it onto AP, it certainly won't be for lack of trying now will it? ;-)
Okay, lets see. Thanks for the commends and suggestions so far, but I'm a little confused here. First I hear that it needs something at the bottom, so I put the fog there (because it makes sense and goes along with the series). Then I hear that its only covering a little bit, then too much... @_@ You're not supposed to see through the fog to the back. That doesn't happen in the show. I applied two layers of fog, one in the front and one in the back to make it look like its surrounding them. Yes, the fog is there to take up space...and to look good while doing so. It looks very bare without it.
Now for the revised pic.

I readjusted the robo and Mamoru so that they are more opposite each other. I decreased the fog, but kept it there because I feel like it makes a good addition to the wall. I touched up Mamoru's lines, and his wings. Remember, his left foot has to be hidden behind something because the source image I used has the logo right on top of it. There's no way to re-trace his leg, so it just has to go behind something. Irritating yes, but it can be delt with. I keep wanting to add a green lighting effect to the robo, but I can't do that without it making the image very dull and dark. I keep wishing there was a way to change the color of the "Lense Flare" filter. ^^;
Anyway, that's what I have for now. Any comments? Suggestions?

Better mist? yes. the amount of space it's taking up is just about right, instead of being at either two extremely. :p but mamoru's outlines could still use some fixing and some of his hair curves are not smooth. and is mamoru green or is it possible to recolor him to give him more of the third dimension because his flatness next to the three-dimensional bristling GGG is one reason that they don't look their best next to each other. anyway, work some more! (almost missed this! haven't been online for two days. xP)
The right wing needs to be extracted a little more.
I can see white on the edges.

The girl is really pixelated and badly extracted. You need to vector her. Visit the Vectorness group for some vector tuts.
Also, the robot looks a bit low quality in some places. You need to fix that.
Good luck!
