Soi Fong - Work in Progress
Saw this in the ending credits in one of the latest episodes and thought it looked cool so I vectored it. It's not really a final version with the proper shadowing and stuff but please comment everything. What I think might look strange/bad are the eyes so please tell me if the do.

Yeah, I see your point, but it's most likely just when i saved it in lower res or something. They all overlap so there can't be any space between anything. thanks for pointing it out on this version though.
EDIT: Oh, found the culprit... it was from adding noise. I'll fix that before making a wall out of it.

I somewhat finished the vector and started with the BG. But I'm low on ideas on this one... I want a very simple BG to bring out the vector and because I'm a fan of simple walls.

Hum ... i suggest you don't make the thing she got on her hair plain white ... maybe a light gray will be best ... Just give it a try
About the Bg ... is there something the character is linked to ?? Something like flowers, dragons ?
Maybe make a bg with this idea ...

I have to agree with elfe...those white spots are not very good...you could just do it with a color that is lighter.

I think its very good. But the face is a little off but just alittle bit everything else is awesome!
It's starting to come down to the finished result. I think I might be getting at a BG theme here.

I suggest you to avoid this plain white background ... it is blinding ...
Maybe add a nice gradient with a little bit more vector shapes ...
So the wall won't feel empty while keeping it nice and clean

The effort you put into this warrants a great background... something like a bamboo forest, or a setting from the anime? It's a well-made vector, the shading is well done. To me her hands look a little on the small side but that aside it'd look great as part of a proper wallpaper.

I went for a "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" style and hand-drew this bent bamboo here. Maybe it looks strange, it probably does, I've never even seen real bamboo XD.
What I'm wondering about are the clouds... I believe a lot of people like this realish clouds (looking at the flashy 150+FAV-walls) I've never been a fan of it so I have to hear with you guys if this looks OK or not.
What I'd like would be some more anime-stylish clouds but I have no idea on how to make those. If anyone have a good tutorial on some webpage or in their head, please share your magic!

To be honest i liked it better without the background and the bamboo that doesnt really fit... its like you are putting together a png picture and a bitmap file, just doesnt look right
The second version with vectored clouds looks more consistent. Put more bamboo in and some treetops, maybe a mountain or two in the far-off background... nice work so far. Don't worry if you don't get replies every time you update... at the end of the day you're making the wall, not just following the requests and suggestions of people posting here :P
