Xbox Live
Xbox Live is the service provided by Microsoft for their Xbox and Xbox360 console. It basically allows you to play with other people online, download content from the Xbox Live market place such as movies, game demos, music videos and arcade games ( the most of which you have to pay for with Microsoft points ). You can also talk with other people online, using a microphone or just sending text messages to those in your friends list. I think it`s a great service, it`s too bad you have to pay for Xbox Live Gold ( which is to actually allow you to play with other people online, as to which Silver lets you do everything else other then actually playing online ). But anyway, it`s what makes the Xbox360 in my opinion, the console you must have.

i used to play on live a lot, specially h2 and pgr2. but, when i moved, cable/dsl werent available out here and xbl doesnt allow you connect/play with wireless so i cancelled.
It's nice to have a unified system, but I simply can't find any games worth playing on the 360. It mainly serves as a DVD player for me right now. I'm patiently awaiting for Enemy Territory Quake Wars, which should change that.

I only play hl2 and its really fun play whitch Pro People and not whitch the CPU xD
I don't have Xbox Live, but one of my roommates has a 360, and we use his Live account to download things and play the occasional online game.
I like how Live is unified, like xxfury2xx said. However, coming from a PC gaming background, I can't really justify the cost, since PC online multiplayer gaming has traditionally been free. Additionally, even if PC online gaming is nowhere near as unified as Live, there are a few popular services that people can use for some games, like Steam, Gamespy Arcade, and to a lesser extent, Blizzard's Battle.net service. They all have their pros and cons, but they're also all free.
I think Live's criticisms will really surface when games are launched that fully support Windows Vista's Live platform. When it happens later this month (May), Live for Windows will be a paid service in a traditionally free market. I know that you can still play games online with a free Silver account, but there will be distinctions between Gold and Silver members, and those distinctions will be new to the PC market because they could potentially affect gameplay, and not service fluff like ads and such.

I seriously only play games now a days 2 maybe 5 hours a week now. I cannot justify paying for live if I'll only use it that little in which case, the 360 is not for me. That, and the system failure rate is keeping me away.
Personally I enjoy the live service. It's definitely the best console solution out there. Nintendo's friend codes are just down right annoying and Sony's latest attempt is just a half-assed emulation of Live. The price isn't too terrible, especially when you take into consideration the solid system they have behind it. Playing with your friends or finding new ones is an almost effortless task, the live media center allows you to synch up media on your computer (of which I'm busy converting all my anime to WMV's so they'll be able to stream to my box ^_^), and the marketplace (though sometimes pricey -_-) is an excellent content delivery system. $50 is a lot more than free, but it's also a lot cheaper than a $15 /mo MMO or similar game subscription.

For me, XBL is the best part of the console.
well, second best part. Custom soundtracks is my favorite part of it actually. my tag is philterillusion. microsoft is slowly chipping away at my wallet with these microtransactions though...

Out of the three next gen consoles, Xbox Live is much better than Nintendo's and Playstation's. Xbox Live is a little more user friendly and has more contents. Like game and movie trailers, and the ability to download tv shows. But then again you have to subscribe to Xbox Live to be able to play online. While the other two consoles are free of charge.
I'm digging the Whole XBOXLIVE service, when it comes to the Leaderboards aspect and all on XBLA. But other then that. I'm not to keen on MS charging for gamerpics and themes. Is bad enough that I can't put individual pictures(Wallpapers) on each blade. Is freaking ridiculous that a Gamerpicture pack(Comes with 5 pics) cost 100 MS points, while a episode of Avatar goes for 160 MS points, doesn't make any sense. Ohter then that rant, is very organize and easy to use...Just like a MAC. Love the whole private chat thing, and updates on LIVE are less of a headache then the PSN.

Im on xbox live every now and then. I used to play Halo 2 24/7 but then I slowed down. Gears of war and DOA 4 are some of the other games I play. Looking forward to... Halo 3 and... Bomerman Live (whoot~~ XBLA version! lol) Though I haven't been on much since the Halo 3 Beta... and now ninja gaiden sigma is coming out for my PS3...so i doubt ill be on anytime soon. I have an xbox live account, even though i dont get on much nowadays. Its TheSmellyFist I think it has the best online system, even better then anything on px. Ijust wish it had an internet browser and i hope tey make using messenger easier on it. I play of ourse Halo 2, Crackdown, Lost Planet, and Geard of War.
