Not too much for me to say about this wallpaper that hasn't already been said: Dalarty has provided a descriptive walk through all the way from the concept idea, to its execution and ultimately its fruition. And you can really see how that careful planning paid off. But it just goes to show, good ideas take time---and a whole lot of patience!

Hey all!!

Just seeing if anyone has played Maga Carta TOB for the PS2? I just got in recently and whoa is it neat. The battle system is quite a bit different from the FF series. Kinda reminds me of Legend of Dragoon.

any thoughts (or tips cause I know I'll get lost) would rock!!

For tips if you get lost: www.gamefaqs.com is all you´ll ever need.

For the game itself, couldn´t they have made a more formal difference between a male hero and a female hero? Cause 99% of the time I find the hero to be a girl. Even in the artwork that I´ve seen it looks more like a girl than a guy.

battle system is a first for me, I tend to dislike having to be in rythm to be able to attack, do more damage ok but for the whole attack? Semi-good system.

The little I´ve played it the artwork is way better than the graphics in the game itself since they made the choice to do "3d anime" =/

And for the "combo" style, if someone know how this works then you´re really welcome to tell me about since I don´t understand it at all. Ok I can mage some serious damage, but since I don´t get any buttons to press how the hell does it work?

I thought this game already had a topic of its own already. Oh well.

I can't really say I absolutely adore the game, but I like it enough so that I can continue playing through the game, and I'm coming close to the end I believe.

I actually prefer this battle system over turn-based systems. I like to be "involved" with the battles, thus why I like Shadow Hearts and its judgement ring, or Star Ocean 3.

The combo system isn't all that difficult to master. It first starts off with your most basic attack and a normal ring. For example, if you're using Calintz, and you're in combo mode with Fuget, you'll always start his attack pattern with the most basic attack of Fuget, "Air Rush", which is Wind so XOO. Next, it'll enter Crazy Mode, which just requires you to press the buttons of the rest of his attacks of that Style in succession. For example, after finishing the ring for "Air Rush", once in Crazy Mode, you'll have to press OOO XOO OOO, which is just basically his "Blitz Blade" followed by "Ghost Blade" and finished off with "Soul Blade" (Celestial, Wind, Celestial). Note, after you finish the normal ring, and Crazy Mode is starting, the buttons at first are dulled out, so you have to wait for the ring to do a full rotation first before pressing the buttons. Say, after you're done "Air Rush", you have to wait for the Trinity Circle to make one full rotation before doing "Blitz Blade", and then after you just press whatever buttons you are required to.

Tips? The best mode is Counter Mode. I'll let you figure out how it works for now :)

Then it seems like I pressed the buttons to early, all the times I tried combo mode out.

The manual didn´t give me much help either so I was totally confused. But with this explanation I´ll try it once I get to play it again, Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne is occopying all my gaming-time right now =)

and counter mode is fun. Atleast from what I have read about it. Or rather said could ease the game´s difficulty pretty much. But that´s all I´m going to say about it =)

edit - I´ve got combo mode to work now and wow. Nice attacks. A 100 trinity scale and then a combo and we go off the charts for damage =) Now all I have to do is find another style for the people. Since it´s boring to use the same attacks all over again =( But hopefully it´ll be fun styles to master =)

I really like this game but I have a couple problems
Do the enemies ever respawn? I'm a couple hours into the game now and so far none of the monsters respawn, does that mean that you only have an opportunity to get X amount of xp and sid? Because if so, that really bites lol
Also, when you give presents to your party members, does the bars for the friendlyness stay with them, or do they eventually go away like when you just talk to them and their trust goes up or down depending on what your response is?

Thanks for any help given.

There's one thing I HATE about it. They changed the opening song! The opening with the Japanese song is WAYYY better.

Yep, they do respawn. Go out and kill. Then go back to where you came from and when you reenter they have respawn.

giving away presents is something I haven´t tried yet. But I don´t think the trust will stay up on that person forever so I think it´s more like when you talk with the people.

It's true, if you give presents to somebody it'll bring their trust up. The bad thing is that it goes up momentarily, so eventually their trust will go back down.

I though the battle system was pretty interesting. It has more of a spin then normal games. What I actually liked about this game though, was the fact that everything was serious. In most RPGs nowadays, there's joking around and stuff. In this one, everything is really serious, it gave it a different touch then usual.

Looks like I'm a bit late on responding, oh well. In response to all the questions:

Enemies do respawn, just that not instantaneously like some people believe. The reason some people think they respawn instantaneously, by leaving and re-entering the area for example, is because those respawns that they happen to come across are due to progression in story. Enemies respawn rather slowly, so in essence, EXP is somewhat limited.

Trust levels have a set value, and will always decrease or increase, depending on whether it's lower or higher than the initial, towards that value. So essentially, giving gifts is a waste of items, while doing conversations is good for temporary. Rather, some of those items that are given as gifts are able to increase certain statistics for the character who received it. For example, I believe Fire Crystal increases INT.

The battle system is indeed intriguing. It reminds me of the Judgement Ring from Shadow Hearts. It involves the player in battles rather than the regular turn-based, but those are still fun in my opinion from time to time. Rather than me lying down and playing, I have to sit upright :D.

With no respawning enemies, limmited exp, linear gameplay, and a confusing battle system...this game doesn't seem to rise to its full potential....Mastering the battle system is half the battle...I personally love the game...but then again I'm a Softmax AND Atlus fanboy...The visual style <3 emoticon...and the characters are wonderful and different...I could use a bit less linear gameplay and a more lively environment, but that's okay I'll live!

But it truly is a wonderful game and it's a nice break from the average turn-based RPGs and is a bit different from the now becoming common live action RPGs ;O!

I <3 emoticon this game!

Long live Softmax, Hyung tae Kim (the artist), and Atlus!!

I completely agree with you. The opening song in the English version made me cringe, and it really ruined what would otherwise have been an awesome opening cinematic.

In the end, the cons outweighed the pros for me, and so I tossed it off on eBay, where it probably went to the home of someone who would enjoy it better.
