What series got you into anime?
The first animes that I had been introduced to were really old heh. The first one i watched was Fist of the North Star, then onto Ghost in the Shell, Street Fighter II the animated movie and Akira. I was kinda young at the time, far too young to understand plots like Ghost in the Shell and Akira, but man, the level of violence, action, not the regular kinda saturday morning cartoons i had been used to watching really got my attention. Heh, I still love these classics today.
The first anime series I saw was Pokemon, but I no longer watch it because I grew out of it. I think I moved on to Digimon, and then Yu-Gi-Oh after that. I stopped watching all three shows now. However I didn't become an anime addict until probably two or three years ago when I saw Lain. It's a bizarre, beautiful, unique, and complex show. I started to watch Adult Swim after that, and I found many other interesting anime series.
Dragonball Z...I think. To be honest I can't really say which if any single series got me into anime. In my experience it was more like japanese culture itself got me hooked through a simultaneous barrage of videogames, manga, and of course anime. If anything I was just kinda submerged by a tidal wave of it and consequently got addicted.
First i ever watched was Rurouni Kenshin :D then Love Hina whichh is my all time favourite
Let's see... Dragonball. I watched it when I was a kid. Good stuff.
Not counting the first anime i saw, i reckon that onegai teacher got me in anime
I think Doraemon was my 1st anime....but Neon Genesis Evangelion is the thing that got me into anime
Hmm...some series that got me into anime, i think Magic Knight Rayearth, and BT'X, both of them are good anime

Sailor Moon. *cringe* ...dubbed.

My first anime was Sailormoon but I didn't know it was anime since it was showing when I was like... 9 years old or something. What got me into anime was Yu Yu Hakusho. I got to watch it twice when I was 12. Wicked scenes. And 7 years later I'm watching the whole thing all over again :)
First one's i saw were dragon ball and pokemon but those didnt really do anything what really made me into an Anime addicted person was Cardcaptor Sakura i just loved it and still do now ^_^
Wow the gateway drugs of anime and the one that got me and many of my friends into anime wasn't on there. anyway the one that hooked me was outlaw star and not the series itself. i could never get to see an episode when it was on toonami but i would catch the ending sone Hiro No Tsuki. from then it took me 5-7 years to even start by buying the series and finally seeing the last episode. i hate when you watch something and you dont get to see the last ep but yeah that got me into anime.
First anime i ever watched was speed racer. Now that i look back at it i laugh at the bad dubbing. HAHA BAD DUBBING OF AMERICA! But what really got me into anime was Evangelion. and it was basically the first 'real' anime i ever watched. honestly, what a great anime to get you started on the proverbial anime wagon. Wouldn't you agree?
