How are you going to celebrate Chinese New Year?
Im, Ryosuke here..wishing everyone here..happy chinese new year..wish everyone is getting healthier and happier...im going to go back hometown and celebrate with my beloved family and friends..how about others?
Happy Chinese New Year to you too, Ryosuke...
I'm still living with my family, so on the 1st day of New Year I'm going to my father's side of the family to celebrate. On the second day I will go to my mother's side of the family, while the rest of the days will be spent visiting other relatives and friends...I personally am not fond of these gatherings, where there are a lot of noise, boring conversations and silly questions, but I think it might not be the same for everyone >.< Well, at least there's the great food and it's only once a year anyway...
I hope to get lots and lots of red packets = lots of $$$
Wishing everyone else a very Happy Chinese New Year too~~

I'll be honest. Even though I'm Chinese, I know NOTHING about Chinese New Years or anything that has to do with Chinese folktale, those animals that represent each year, etc. I know nothing, so every time my parents hold some kind of party have a feast or whatnot I just play along. Heck I don't even know when Chinese New Years happens lol or even why.
My family doesn't celebrate anything much anymore. I'll probably get a couple of red packets (yay) and we'll have a nice dinner or something. Most of our relatives are overseas but since my grandparents are here, they usually make a whole of food as always. Kind of boring, but whatever, it's our own way.

Where I am, my mom likes to celebrate Chinese New Year with the hopes that this year will be very prosperous by having some round fruits available on the table, and even have a stein of water on the table (no one drinks it). Since this is my year (the Year of the Rat), supposedly this could be a good year coming for me and my family.
So I've heard.

Drink a bottle of Vodka on the first new years day with the guys,
then a bottle of 18 years old single malt whisky on the second,
the third day is spent with a hangover and visiting relatives, and continue drinking till the wee hours in the morning while eating peanuts.

I wish I celebrated Chinese new year mainly for one thing..money. haha but my family doesn't. I don't even celebrate my native french and japanese cultural holidays. I guess we're just too American-acting. Although I've lived in France for so long. It doesn't make sense really, I know. XD
