I think its very good. Two Comments:
1. I don't know if I like the outer glow around the character
2. The left part of the top pink line looks a little jagged to me
On a brighter note I like the color scheme and the font. The atmosphere in general is good.

Ummm... I seen this character used in so many wallpapers before so I almost assumed you copied the theme... However, I don't believe you did... Anyway... I think the glow is a little strange... other than that I love the colors and I hope you can complete this soon... Keep up the good work...

I'd say to get rid of the outer glow on sakura or maybe make the glow more pink to blend better.
The top line in the bg is kinda pixelated where it curves. And don't forget to put your name on it somewhere.
Over all I think it looks great.

You have some extraction problems on the shoulders, hair (real problems on the right side) of Sakura and also some jaggy lines on her legs... The white glow doesn't help to hide it... :-s
The character is great, the colors fits together pretty well and the fond looks fine.
About the top pink line the curve looks like you just mistakes the line... It's not really looking nice at all and yes it's pretty jaggy there.
You really need to clean your scan before submitting the wall cause the extraction is the first things mods will check on... :-s And they are pretty hard on that.
But it's a very nice start! Keep it up! :)

Black bars across top and bottom and white glows around characters make walls look tacky and amateurish. You could easily expand your pattern to fill the entire background by continuing the pink upwards and the dark purple down, then extend your gradient across more of the wall. Try using some sort of texture to spice it up a little and see if you can find a more brush-stroke sort of font for Sakura's name; putting it all on one line and place it lower, about level with her hips. Sakura is dressed in black and has a lot of shadow cast on her so contrastingly brighter background will give the wall some impact.

also, the pink vertical bar? you know how there's a little edge of shadow under it? you don't need it. but a gradient over the entire wall instead, so it fades smoothly, instead of having an edge of black stick out.
other than that, no major problems...update again and we'll comment some more...
