How do you feel about the 2012 London Olympics logo?

If you have not seen it you should try to google it. There is a bit of an uproar about it in the UK just now, with people saying it looks like graffiti art or a broken swastika. There are even several petitions against it such as this one (Actually there is a small picture of the logo on that page.
Personally I think it is horrid. I really did think it was a joke when it first started. I live in the UK and I can't believe this is going to be plastered everywhere over the next few years
Peace

Looks pretty bad. Why aren't they just leaving it simple like it's always been?
That looks weird. Are they trying to make 2012 out of those blocks? There are some more variations in Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_Olympics

Oh jeez, that's terrible! Looks like crap :p
I think the design and everything is creative, BUT the animation and design just looks horrific.
They probably put a lot of effort into it but still it looks like S@#T to me.

I completely agree.
The design and concept behind it was very creative. But the way the designer made the logo makes it look completely horrendous.

I'm pretty sure that it's the final design, though there are several different coloured ones and a slightly different one for the paralympics.
The logo only cost £400,000 what a waste of money.
I seem to remember also hearing about how an animated version of the logo had to be pulled from the London 2012 website, as it could have caused some people to have an epileptic fit.
It's not too bad but it's definitely odd. Who's idea was it anyways. If you think of it in the other person's perspective, the person who designed it must be really sad and embarassed.
I don't feel it's too bad. It's creative, but I liked the logo they used for the bidding. It looked more prettier than the new one ^_^. The Olympic colours flowing through London 2012 were prettier though and put a smile on my face, not that it's that hard to do though, hehehe ^_^.
I'm guessing they tried to be more original and do something that no one has ever done, so I give them points on that ^_^. But over all, it's not that bad ^_^.

Omg, it took me a reading sesion before figuring out that the stuff is actualy numbers.
I wonder how much the designer was paid

I didn't realise they were numbers until I was told.

It was designed by Wolff Olins (a brand consultancy) and cost 400,000 (British Pound, if the symbol doesn't show).

Wow, that is ugly. I was like... what the hell is that supposed to represent? (thanks Siemens for deciphering) Seems like their focus is making the logo into a brand as I got from the BBC Sport page:
Olympics Minister Tessa Jowell said: "This is an iconic brand that sums up what London 2012 is all about - an inclusive, welcoming and diverse Games that involves the whole country.
"It takes our values to the world beyond our shores, acting both as an invitation and an inspiration.
"This is not just a marketing logo, but a symbol that will become familiar, instantly recognisable and associated with our Games in so many ways during the next five years."
Meaning, they hope to make LOTS of money with this logo, years to come..and I dunno how that 'logo' sums up whatever she said above and frankly imho, you could make a better looking logo that people will be more fond of. But, either way, it's the Olympics and they're gonna make s*** loads of money off it anyway.

They can put all their creative thought and energy into it...but that doesn't mean it'll always look great <_<
If they're keeping that as the logo for the 2012 Olympics...I probably won't watch it, even if the actual games might be good.

I live in Aust, so I don't know anything whats going on over there, but I think it's ok. I think it's creative and different.
I think, if I was living there the only issue about it, is that, how does that logo represent London and seperate it from all the other olympics? ( beside the fact that it's different). I think they should have gone for something that when people instantly look at it, they can see London. When I look at that all I see is 2012, nothing about it shows London
