Anime music Is it appropriate or not?
Like i said before most people discuss anime but they don't seem to discuss the music that comes along with the anime. In my case i believe the music is as important as the animation itself because it creates a whole mood for the anime itself. Therefore i want to know which music seem to be appropriate for the anime it was created for.
In my case i like a the music that was added to Neo Genesis Evangelion. I just loved how they blended the classical, which was the music, with something so modern, like Mechs. I also enjoy J-pop. Most of the music in Baruketsu Tenshi and Fullmetal alchemist kick ass.
So what do you believe to be appropriate?

Totally ouran high school host club. the opening and ending totally fits Ouran! i mean, i love how the opening song SAKURA KISS is soo happy and perky and it totally fits the club! tehehe, and the ending...omg, also another ending that fits ouran host club, although it isn't perky, it's still brings in this happy atmosphere at the end that makes you smile! ahaha.

Music in certain part says to him to the observer which it basically deals with the plot, that is what is going to happen as the background music of Saint seiya and those of Ruoroni kenshi are good examples of that

Well, I've watched many anime's including fads [i.e. Naruto, and such] and those underrated titles that no one seems to know about [GetBackers, Desert Punk, etc.] and I think that music does play an important role in a series. For example, I like GetBackers' music. The first opening, Rose-Colored World, by Pierrot was very approriate for the first season. I also liked Mr. Deja Vu, which I believe was the third ending for GetBackers. It seemed to revolve around Ginji, and the song fitted him well, as he was trying to "escape" his past. These are just a few though, and if I were to continue it'd take a long time to go through...and I don't want to bother you all with that.
I believe the music in anime makes a difference. It helps bring about the feelings to the scenery, situation, and/or characters and their thoughts/inner mind. I enjoy the music that was played in Naruto, Bleach, and many others. :)
I find most anime would be down right boring if it whent for the sound track, like macross plus, or Initial D. both where grate anime, but would have been to dry if it where'nt for the exallent sound track. some anime on the hand had realy bad music, like gundam seed destany. the music just did'nt fit. some of it was acualy down right anoying.
Sigh. I guess I am one of those people that... tends to not notice a soundtrck, but there are some that still grab my attention. Like Suzumiya... or even the new Coyote Ragtime Show. Holy crap!!!
Music can be more than just background noise... if they try. Most of it is just generic. I think things are def. improving though.

Music is definately important. The appropriateness I think is accomplished by the genre and the time frame that the anime was created in. Take music from Cowboy Bebop or Samurai Champloo and contrast with say Kare Kano's more serious tone, or even Suzumiya Haruhi's faster paced music. There are some great animes out there and the music more than helps differentiate a series between a "good" anime and a "great" anime, I'd say.
As a side note, I think its neat that I can promote some anime to non-anime viewers just by demoing them some songs from a series. Some of the really nice instrumental songs from say Gankutsuou, Last Exile, Escaflowne, Infinite Ryvius (spins) have been enough to garner interest from my friends who weren't so interested in taking a look at anime. It shocks them when they ask what movie the song was from, but find out its from anime. Clearly, anime is too childish to have such a moving or powerful score =p

Hmm... Well.. a few series really have their sound and music down. Bleach for example, once I hear 2 seconds worth of their music, I know it's bleach. If a series did their thing right, you should be able to recognise them by their music and sound alone, I think.
A good anime series with a good soundtrack will really help the series' popularity. plus it can also help identify the anime. though some great anime had bad soundtracks. the first OP for naruto was bad imo, if it weren't for a recommendation of a friend i probably wouldn't have watched it at all. same goes for Gundam Seed. the soundtrack for Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu and FLCL we're some of the best i've heard.

I think many good animes will have good music too because you will have to make the soundtrack suits and get along good with the anime scene. I like School Rumble soundtrack and Bleach soundtrack. I think these two anime have such a good music and soundtrack. I think the music and the anime get along so smoothly and make me feel follow the story. I like the relax songs of School Rumble and the sad soundtrack of Bleach. When I just want to lay down on the bed or having a break, I will listen to School Rumble's song, but when I feel sad or depressed, Bleach soundtrack make me feel really deep.
Music defiantely makes a difference in anime and in regular movies too. In my film class in 8th grade i saw this old version of the movie frankenstein without any background music and it pretty much sucked
I think not many animes have an appropriate music, but some are charming : Mai-HiME , Evangelion, maybe Kiba ...

Do you mean OST's or openings and endings? Because if its OST then there are a lot of good music in some anime series out there, for example Noein has a beautifull ST. But if you are reffering to OPs and EDs then moust of theme are crapy ass pop music that you woudnt hear if it werent for the fact that there part of an anime series or movie.
